We previously identified a small number of genes using cDNA arrays that accurately diagnosed patients with Sézary Syndrome (SS), the erythrodermic and leukemic form of cutaneous T-cell lymphoma (CTCL). OBJECTIVE: To report the case of a pregnant woman with ultrasound diagnosis of altered fetal tegumental system and postnatal diagnosis of Omenn syndrome.
CASE PRESENTATION: A 27-year-old patient who presented at 31 weeks of gestation with prenatal ultrasound evidence of a fetus with significant scalp edema, echogenic amniotic fluid and scaly abdominal skin, with ichtyosis variant impression on diagnostic ultrasound. We describe a patient with papuloerythroderma of Ofuji (PE) of unknown cause, in whom no underlying malignancy was found. Topical steroids and systemic antihistamines did not resolve the rash. Systemic steroids induced a remission of the PE, which was not maintained on reduction of the dose. Therefore, cyclosporin was added which did lead to rapid clearing of the skin. Remission was maintained after discontinuation of treatment.

The authors are reporting a new case of widespread scabies in a baby. They take this opportunity to emphasize on the atypical erythematous and excoriated papular rash which sometimes may be vesicular and hyper-keratotic. This widespread eruption may mimic generalised dermatitis, pustular psoriasis and even histiocytosis X. They also underline importancy of longlasting ointment with fluorinated steroid being responsible for this widespread eruption.

Sézary cells were studied in the peripheral blood and characteristic skin lesions of the Sézary syndrome and mycosis fungoides by transmission electron microscopy to obtain more information on their nuclear and nucleolar ultrastructure.
