Characterization of foreign bodies and their localization in the digestive tract in 404 patients is given. Surgical methods of treatment of such patients are described. Endoscopy was used for examination and treatment. The adequate anesthesia is thought by the authors to be necessary for a successful endoscopic removal of the foreign bodies. The indications for general anesthesia are enumerated. The endoscopic removal of the foreign bodies during surgical interventions are indicated in patients with the perforation of the esophagus by a foreign body.

Five patients were operated on for gallstone ileus over a 10-year period. Two patients with eosinophilic gastroenteritis are described. The predominant eosinophilic infiltration of the mucosal layer of the upper gastrointestinal tract resulted in severe protein-losing enteropathy and peripheral eosinophilia in one patient and a malabsorption syndrome due to saccharose and lactose intolerance in another patient. The complex study of stomach and duodenal function was performed in 150 patients with GERD. It was revealed that 84,3% of patients had increased stomach acid-production. 93 patients with duodenal ulcer were exposed to interference currents (transcerebral and epigastric exposure). These currents were found clinically and functionally effective.
