A Study to Check the Readiness of Final-Year Dental Students Vis-à-Vis to a Safe and an Independent Practitioner in Sultanate of Oman Amidst the Recent Pandemic.

It is essential for a dental student about to graduate to possess robust fundamentals in both basic and clinical dental science. There should be a perfect harmony and blend of basic and clinical science integration and application among final year graduating students. They should also demonstrate readiness and competence in performing various clinical skills independently, after correctly interpreting and diagnosing a dental disorder. Besides the clinical aspects of dentistry, the newly graduating dental student should understand the principles of professionalism and ethos. The main aim and ob

Follow-up study of the regional quota system of Japanese medical schools and prefecture scholarship programmes: a study protocol.

INTRODUCTION: Given the shortage of physicians, particularly in rural areas, the Japanese government has rapidly expanded the number of medical school students by adding chiikiwaku (regional quotas) since 2008. Quota entrants now account for 17% of all medical school entrants. Quota entrants are usually local high school graduates who receive a scholarship from the prefecture government. In exchange, they temporarily practise in that prefecture, including its rural areas, after graduation. Many prefectures also have scholarship programmes for non-quota students in exchange for postgraduate in-

Effects of Force Feedback on Trainee Performance: A Pilot Study of the dV5 Surgical Robot.

INTRODUCTION: Lack of tactile sensation remains a limitation of robotic operations. The da Vinci 5 (dV5) surgical system uses force feedback (FFB) technology, allowing surgeons to sense forces exerted at the instrument tips. Limited studies report that FFB reduces excessive instrument force and enhances tissue manipulation. However, its role in trainee technical performance remains poorly characterized. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of FFB on trainee performance using validated technical rating scales. METHODS: Participants in this pilot study included 4 trainees with varying level

Practical exploration of real-time visual interactive artificial intelligence technology in cytopathology education.

BACKGROUND: Proficiency in cytopathologic diagnosis depends heavily on extensive hands-on practice and immediate error correction. Traditional teaching models, however, are constrained by limited practice opportunities and delayed feedback, which fails to meet the core skill-development needs of residents. METHODS: In total, 45 pathology residents were enrolled and assigned to two groups. The experimental group (n = 20) adopted a tripartite teacher-artificial intelligence-resident collaborative teaching model, whereas the control group (n = 25) received conventional instruction. Both groups u

"Practicing in and out till perfection"-Use of mobile repairing microscope for home wet lab practice and as an alternative to high-end microscopes in wet lab.

Ophthalmic surgeries are microsurgeries that require fine motor skills and precision of movements. Practicing under microscope during wet lab sessions develops hand-eye coordination, removes performance anxiety, builds muscle memory, and helps attain fineness of movement. However, not every training center is equipped with a wet lab. Development of a wet lab facility is an expensive task, as the cost of operating microscopes, simulators, and phacoemulsification machines is significant. A mobile repairing tabletop, portable stereo microscope can be utilized to develop a basic, affordable wet la
