Forty-four patients diagnosed with primary cancer of the fallopian tube (PFTC) were analyzed with regard to AgNORs expression, morphological classification, clinical stage and survival rate. Twenty-seven patients were FIGO stage I, 7 FIGO II and 10 FIGO III. Histological classification of PFTC revealed 18 endometrioid types, 9 serous, 7 undifferentiated, 6 urothelial, 2 clear cell and 2 another type of (intestinal, squamous cell) cancer. Primary carcinoma of the fallopian tube is the rarest cancer of the female genital tract with an incidence of 0.5% of all gynecologic tumors. Since the first report in 1847 about 1,500 cases have been published. Due to similarity of the clinical presentation the staging and therapeutic management have been adapted to that of ovarian cancer. OBJECTIVES: Fallopian tube carcinoma is similar to ovarian and peritoneal carcinoma with respect to histology, response to chemotherapy, and prognosis. BRCA germline mutations have been commonly reported in ovarian and peritoneal carcinoma but rarely in other gynecologic cancers.

AIM: The recent development of hysterocontrastsonography (HyCoSy) for assessing tubal patency may provide an alternative to current methods, which are either invasive (laparoscopy and dye) or involve exposure to radiation and require a radiology department (hysterosalpingography).
METHOD: Following the introduction of an intrauterine balloon catheter, the contrast agent (Echovist) is slowly injected into the cavity and tracked using ultrasound as it passes through the tubes. The technique is well tolerated as an outpatient method, and takes about 15 to 20 minutes to perform.

The present study reports first experiences with falloposcopy for extended diagnosis in tubal sterility. In a total of 38 patients, n = 62 tubes were to be examined falloposcopically. Catheterization was successful in 85.5%. After successful catheterization, optically interpretable images were obtained in 93.6%. The overall success rate was therefore 80%. In order to assess the diagnostic quality of falloposcopy in relation to pathomorphology, a consecutive series of 30 Fallopian tubes obtained from surgical salpingectomy cases were prospectively examined by in-vitro falloposcopy and histology. Sliding hernias of the tube, ovaries and uterus occur occasionally in newborn female infants, but are rare in older women. This report entails a case of a sliding inguinal hernia which contains the organs of the female genital tract in a 56-year-old multipara woman. Under diagnosis of incarcerated inguinal hernia preoperatively, the operative intervention was performed, but it appeared the organs of uterus, ovary and fallopian tube there instead of the intestine. After operation, wound recovery was good. At follow-up six months later, there was no recurrence nor lower abdominal discomfort.

Determination of DNA ploidy in 61 samples of primary Fallopian-tube carcinoma (FTC) by use of image cytometry is presented. Of these samples, 48 showed an aneuploid DNA content. Patients with euploid DNA content showed a median survival time of 33.8 months compared to 24.5 months for aneuploid cases. A high incidence of aneuploid tumors was consistently observed among all FIGO stages and in all groups of histologic grading.
