Multidimensional burden of caregivers of Alzheimer's disease and related dementia in China: A nationwide cross-sectional study.

BACKGROUND: As China's population ages, the burden on caregivers of individuals with Alzheimer's disease and related dementias (ADRD) is increasing. Comprehensive nationwide studies on caregiver burden, particularly emotional experiences, however, remain limited. OBJECTIVE: To investigate the multidimensional aspects of caregiving burden associated with ADRD patients through a nationwide survey. METHODS: This cross-sectional study included 1221 ADRD patient-caregiver pairs from 29 province-level administrative divisions in mainland China, recruited through dementia-dedicated online forums. Health challenges of older women following attempted intimate partner homicide.

BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES: While some research exists on women who have survived attempted intimate partner homicide (IPH), studies focusing on survivors aged 60 years and older and how they cope with health concerns remain scarce. Guided by intersectionality as a theoretical framework, this study examined older women's experiences of managing their health in the aftermath of surviving a violent attack by a male partner, considering how intersecting identities such as age, gender, and survivorship shape their health-related challenges. The insights gained could inform targeted interventions an

The impact of digitalization policies on teaching behaviors in university financial management programs: a teacher-student dual-path model.

INTRODUCTION: Against the backdrop of educational digitalization and the urgent need for the "data-intelligence" transformation of Financial Management programs, this study investigates the mechanisms through which digitalization policies affect teaching and learning behaviors. To overcome the limitations of previous research, which often focused solely on either the teacher or student perspective, this study innovatively develops a "Teacher-Student Dual-Path Model." METHODS: Adopting a non-matched independent sampling design, we collected survey data from 253 faculty members and 280 students

Diabetic Foot Ulcer Prevention Priorities Established by Consumers From Low Socioeconomic and Culturally Diverse Communities.

AIMS: Diabetic foot ulcers (DFU) continue to occur despite established prevention guidelines, yet consumer perspectives, particularly from socioeconomically disadvantaged and culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities, have been underrepresented in shaping prevention. To address this gap, we aimed to co-design a consumer-derived prevention research agenda by identifying barriers and enablers, establishing research priorities, prioritising implementation strategies, and defining meaningful outcome measures. METHODS: Four sequential workshops were conducted with 11 consumers with

A behavioral choice analysis of the role of life events during early nonabstinent natural recovery from alcohol use disorder.

Prior research supported a behavioral choice analysis of the role of life events in posttreatment drinking among abstinence-seeking inpatients with alcohol use disorder (AUD). This study investigated the generality of those relationships among persons attempting "natural" recovery involving moderation drinking. We had two hypotheses: (1) The likelihood of drinking after an event would be related to the degree of alcohol-related disruption in the life-health area of the event. (2) Event-related drinking episodes would be quantitatively greater than event-unrelated episodes. Participants (N = 83

Missingness patterns in a comprehensive instrument identifying psychosocial and substance use risk in antenatal care.

BACKGROUND: Psychosocial vulnerabilities (e.g. inadequate social support, financial insecurity, stress) and substance use elevate risks for adverse perinatal outcomes and maternal mental health morbidities. However, various barriers, including paucity of validated, simple and usable comprehensive instruments, impede execution of the recommendations to screen for such vulnerabilities in the first antenatal care visit. The current study presents findings from a newly implemented self-report tool created to overcome screening barriers in outpatient antenatal clinics. METHODS: This was a retrospe

Vaccine preventable diseases surveillance in Nepal: How much does it cost?

Assessing the cost of vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) surveillance is becoming more important in the context of the Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI) funding transition, since GPEI support to polio surveillance helped the incremental building of VPD surveillance systems in many countries, including low income countries such as Nepal. However, there is limited knowledge on the cost of conducting VPD surveillance, especially the national cost for surveillance of multiple vaccine-preventable diseases. The current study sought to calculate the economic and financial costs of Nepal's co

Immediate Postpartum Long-Acting Reversible Contraception Programs in Texas Hospitals Following Changes to Medicaid Reimbursement Policy.

OBJECTIVES: Provision of long-acting reversible contraception (LARC) after delivery and prior to discharge is safe and advantageous, yet few Texas hospitals offer this service. Our study describes experiences of Texas hospitals that implemented immediate postpartum LARC (IPLARC) programs, in order to inform the development of other IPLARC programs and guide future research on system-level barriers to broader adoption. METHODS: Eight Texas hospitals that had implemented an IPLARC program were identified, and six agreed to participate in the study. Interviews with 19 key hospital staff covered

Using a decision support tool to reduce inappropriate antibiotic use after a delayed prescription.

Antimicrobial resistance is partly driven by overprescribing antibiotics in primary care. Delayed antibiotic prescriptions, which allow patients to monitor their symptoms before deciding to use antibiotics, are a promising intervention. However, this strategy is undermined when patients initiate antibiotic use immediately. Using a behavioural game measure with behaviour-contingent financial incentives that models delayed prescriptions, we examined whether a decision support leaflet issued by the World Health Organization can, alone or in combination with other evidence-based interventions, red

Associations of financial strain and unmet social needs with women's bladder health.

OBJECTIVE: Financial strain and unmet social needs are associated with greater risk for lower urinary tract symptoms. Little research has examined financial strain and unmet social needs in relation to the more holistic concept of bladder health. This study utilizes baseline data from RISE FOR HEALTH: A U.S. Study of Bladder Health to examine whether financial strain, unmet social needs, and meeting specific federal poverty level threshold levels are associated with lower urinary tract symptoms and poorer perceived bladder health, well-being, and function. STUDY DESIGN: Participants were 18 y

[How family caregivers adapt to Lewy body disease - tracking family caregivers' perceptions of their caregiving relationships].

This one-year longitudinal study examined the relationship between caregivers' perceptions of their caregiving role and their psychological health when supporting individuals with Lewy body disease. The findings indicate that a lack of time and family support significantly affects caregivers' psychological health. Additionally, prioritizing emotion-focused coping strategies over problem-focused strategies is associated with a deterioration in psychological health over time. The study also identified distinct caregiver profiles based on variations in the financial consequences of caregiving, se
