Clam Bayou is a mangrove-dominant urban estuary in Boca Ciega Bay (Florida, USA). BACKGROUND: Candida auris (C auris) has rapidly spread in the United States. We aimed to characterize the trends in volumes and sources of clinical cultures with C auris at a large health care system.
METHODS: We conducted a retrospective observational study including clinical cultures with C auris collected between April 1, 2019, and December 31, 2023. Surveillance cultures were excluded. A new species of the spongicolid coral shrimp genus Microprosthema Stimpson, 1860 is described on the basis of three specimens collected by hand while scuba diving off the Atlantic coast of southern Florida, with additional photographic records from Roatan, Honduras. Microprosthema dimitrisorum sp. nov. can be separated from all presently known species of the genus by a unique combination of morphological characters, and most easily, by its highly diagnostic and conspicuous colour pattern consisting of large red spots on most of the body and appendages.

AIM: Opioid misuse is a severe threat to justice-involved children and adolescents. Identifying risk factors and sex differences is critical to design accurate risk assessments and person-centered interventions. Stress theory and research posit that abuse may be linked to opioid misuse, and the consequences may be harsher for females.
