Anthelmintic efficacy, safety, and residue studies were conducted in sows and gilts with a levamisole gel containing 11.5% levamisole HCl. In 12 sows and 12 gilts, 8 mg of levamisole HCl equivalent/kg of body weight orally was 100% (resinate) and 91.1% (gel) effective against 55-day-old Ascaris suum and 100% (gel) and 96.1% (resinate) effective against Oesophagostomum dentatum. A group of patients with acne rosacea was treated with 5 percent benzoyl peroxide acetone gel for four weeks and then with 10 percent benzoyl peroxide acetone gel for an additional four weeks. A parallel group of patients was treated with a matching placebo (acetone gel vehicle). Psoriatic lesions on the scalp are cosmetically troublesome and present problems for therapy, particularly over a long-term period. A gel containing refined coal tar in solution (psoriGel) was effective in clearing or markedly improving psoriasis of the scalp in 83 percent of 112 patients. Infection is not a common problem following implant surgery using the bone cement, polymethyl methacrylate. When infection occurs, its often disastrous results makes for major complications. Many methods have been used in an attempt to reduce bacterial contamination at the time of implant surgery, but little attention has been given to the problem of possible effects of implant materials on the immune mechanisms of the host. In the experiments reported here, the in vitro effect of methyl methacrylate monomer on human immunoglobulins was determined using a quantitative gel diffusion technique.

Extra-amniotic prostaglandin E2 (PGE2) suspended in a slow release gel (Tylose) was instilled in 35 patients prior to a planned surgical termination in an attempt to dilate the cervix, minimize cervical trauma, and reduce the possible risk of cervical trauma, and reduce the possible risk of cervical incompetence and its sequelae.
