Double-vestibular incision subperiosteal tunnel access (double-VISTA) with connective tissue graft for treating multiple gingival recessions: 2-year follow-up.

BACKGROUND: Gingival recession has a multifactorial etiology, involving various predisposing and precipitating factors. Non-carious cervical lesions (NCCLs) are often associated with gingival recession and pose challenges due to their complex pathodynamics. There is limited evidence regarding tunnel-based procedures combined with connective tissue grafts (CTGs) for treating recession-associated NCCLs. This case study illustrates a periodontal-restorative approach for addressing multiple adjacent recession-associated NCCLs. METHODS: A healthy, non-smoking 55-year-old Asian male presented with …

Subepithelial Connective Tissue Graft in Combination with a Tunnel Technique for the Treatment of Miller Class II and III Gingival Recessions in Mandibular Incisors: Clinical and Esthetic Results.

There is limited evidence regarding the effect of the subepithelial connective tissue graft (SCTG) on root coverage in the mandibular anterior region. A sample of 15 Miller Class II and III recessions were treated in 15 patients using a SCTG with a tunnel technique. After a mean follow-up of 20.53 months, the mean percentage of root coverage was 83.25% for all treated recessions. Furthermore, a statistically significant increase of keratinized tissue was observed at the end of the evaluation period (2.66 mm; P = .001). The combination of tunnel technique and SCTG should be considered a treatme

Non-carious cervical lesions associated with multiple gingival recessions in the maxillary arch. A restorative-periodontal effort for esthetic success. A 12-month case report.

Restoration of non-carious cervical lesions (NCCLs) represents a major challenge for resin materials due to the different adhesive properties of the tooth structure, the biomechanical aspects of the cervical area, and the difficulties in the access and isolation of the operative field. Furthermore, NCCLs should be approached with a complete understanding of the role played by the marginal periodontal tissue. Whenever a cervical lesion is associated with a gingival recession, the interplay between restorative dentistry and periodontology is decisive for full esthetic and long-term success. A ca…

Comparative Evaluation of Vestibular Incision Subperiosteal Tunnel Access (VISTA) Technique With and Without Advanced Platelet-Rich Fibrin for Treatment of Maxillary Anterior Gingival Recessions.

Gingival recession is an apical shift of the gingival margin with exposure of the root surface to the oral cavity, which creates an esthetic problem. The present study was attempted to compare vestibular incision subperiosteal tunnel access (VISTA) with and without advanced platelet-rich fibrin (A-PRF) in the treatment of Miller Class I gingival recessions. A total of 24 patients were assigned randomly to either the test group (VISTA with A-PRF) or the control group (VISTA alone). Clinical parameters like recession depth, recession width, clinical attachment loss, width of keratinized gingiva,…

A novel approach of combining the tunnel technique with a double papilla flap or a coronally positioned flap for the treatment of multiple adjacent gingival recessions: report of two cases.

The treatment of multiple gingival recessions (GRs) is often challenging for clinicians, mainly due to a larger avascular surface, limited blood supply, differences in recession depth, and residual keratinized tissue. Considering these factors, it may be prudent to take advantage of one surgical technique and overcome its limitations by combining it with another technique in certain clinical situations. The present clinical report describes the treatment of multiple GRs of different depths with a combination of the tunnel technique (TUN) and pedicle flap (PED) - double papilla flap (DPF) or co…
