Structure-antibacterial activity correlation equations have been developed for aseries of 44 amides and 25 hydrazides of rifamycin B in five bacterial systems. The best amide equations show that activity is a parabolic function of log P. A wide variation in log Po was found for the various bacterial systems. The most important correlation parameter in the hydrazide equations is omicron*. PURPOSE: Anamorelin hydrochloride (ANAM), used to treat cancer cachexia, is often discontinued early in clinical practice. Herein, we explored the clinical factors associated with the early discontinuation (Ed) of ANAM and examined its effect on treatment outcomes.

This study developed a class of novel structural antifungal hydrazylnaphthalimidols (HNs) with multitargeting broad-spectrum potential via multicomponent hybridization to confront increasingly severe fungal invasion. Aplastic anemia (AA) is a rare bone marrow failure disorder that is treated with either allogeneic stem cell transplant or immunosuppressive therapy (IST) consisting of antithymocyte globulin (ATG), cyclosporine (CSA), and eltrombopag. Glucocorticosteroids, intravenous immunoglobulins, vincristine, danazol, and eltrombopag are used in refractory chronic idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP). All those treatment modalities are susceptible for thrombosis generation. There is an increased risk of thrombosis in the diseases' natural course. The case we present is a resistant chronic ITP patient who developed pulmonary and intracardiac thrombosis during multidrug treatment. Risk of concomitant usage of drugs and rapid increase in platelet count are discussed.

The therapy of ITP has recently been revolutionized with the introduction of thrombopoeitin stimulating agents. However, these medications are known to increase the platelet count only while the medication is being administered, with a rapid fall of the platelet count to baseline pre-therapy levels on discontinuation. We report the case of a patient with chronic refractory ITP who has attained a prolonged remission after a short course of eltrombopag, with normalization of the platelet count, which is sustained 8 months after discontinuation of the medication.
