We present a case of vertebral artery pseudoaneurysm after a posterior C1-C2 transarticular screw fixation procedure that was effectively treated with endovascular coil occlusion. Vertebral artery pseudoaneurysm complicating posterior C1-C2 transarticular fixation is extremely rare, with only one previous case having been reported previously. It is believed that follicular development and ovulation is suppressed during the early period of gestation in humans. In this report, we describe a patient who underwent ovarian hyperstimulation following a "presumed" menstrual bleeding. The case illustrates that the ovaries during early pregnancy seem to respond normally to exogenous gonadotrophin stimulation. The authors report two cases of spinal dermoid cysts whose rupture originated the migration of free fat drops into the ventricles and intracranial subarachnoid spaces. In both cases the fat drops caused obstructive hydrocephalus, which represents a quite exceptional complication. An adenocarcinoma was found in a choledochal cyst in a 12-year-old girl. This is the youngest patient so far reported with an adenocarcinoma in a choledochal cyst. The cyst consisted of dilatations of the intrahepatic bile ducts and the extrahepatic bile duct. Most of the cyst wall was resected. Spontaneous rupture of the common bile duct is rare, but may result from increased intraductal pressure with associated calculous erosion and necrosis of the bile duct wall secondary to thrombosis. Two cases are reported; one clearly related to calculous erosion and the other unexplained. Survival depends on early diagnosis. Aggressive supportive therapy, including Swan-Ganz catheter, intensive care unit monitoring, and appropriate antibiotics, are mandatory. Only with early operation to alleviate sepsis and decompression of the biliary system can better survival be expected.

The results of voiding cysto-urethrography with simultaneous pressure-flow measurements in 24 patients with functional bladder neck obstruction are reported and compared with the findings in 10 healthy younger males. The bladder neck diameter was statistically significantly smaller in the patients (p less than 0.01). Secondary tuberculous enterocolitis is a rare disease since tuberculostatic drugs have been introduced. Leading symptoms are abdominal pain, loss of weight and diarrhoea. Clinical symptoms, laboratory tests, x-ray, and endoscopic findings may lead to the erroneous diagnosis of colon carcinoma. Coloscopy including biopsy may lead the path to the correct diagnosis; they may in some cases, however, not be conclusive. Surgery is not necessarily mandatory as treatment; drug treatment alone may cause complete healing of intestinal tuberculosis, as a case reported here shows.

CASE REPORT: We report a case of hemicerebellitis in a 13-year-old girl presenting with symptoms of intracranial hypertension with acute onset.
RESULTS: MRI of the brain revealed a unilateral cerebellar swelling with foliaform enhancement. The patient was still symptomatic even with high doses of intravenous steroids, so we decided to operate on her for diagnosis and decompression. The pathology showed leptomeningitis. She had a good postoperative outcome and a normal brain MRI 2 months later.

The literature reports that traumatic spondylolisthesis of L5 is an uncommon lesion. The authors report their experience of three cases of this particular fracture-dislocation of the lumbosacral spine. They stress the importance of certain radiographic signs in the diagnosis: namely, the presence of unilateral multiple fracture of the transverse lumbar apophysis. As far as the treatment is concerned, they state the need for an open reduction and an internal segmental fixation by posterior approach. This global survey investigated the use of virtual reality simulation (VRS) in ophthalmological surgery education. Questionnaires were distributed to authors of publications and directors of centers using VRS for surgical education in ophthalmology, then forwarded to residents and fellows of their team for completion. Out of 1845 questionnaires sent across 36 countries, 170 responses from 26 countries were analyzed, primarily from residents and fellows (75%).
