Engaging Stakeholders to Develop a Roadmap for Dry Eye and MGD PCORI-Funded Research.

INTRODUCTION: Although affecting an estimated 35% of the population, Dry Eye is not well understood by patients and the medical community. As a result, both in research and clinical settings, diagnostic and treatment protocols tend to be non-specific, ad hoc, and inadequate, with a narrow industry-driven focus. The purpose of this convening was to propose a research roadmap that orients Dry Eye researchers toward a comprehensive patient-centered approach to diagnosing and treating Dry Eye, Meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD), and related comorbidities with a goal of improving clinical outcomes f

"I'm Always a Little Bit Skeptical": Intersex Young Adults' Recommendations for Community-partnered Health Research.

BACKGROUND: An estimated 1.7% to 4% of people in the United States are born intersex, or with congenital variations that transcend binary sex. Historically, Western medical protocols have advocated for the 'correction' of intersex variations through early surgical intervention, a practice opposed by the majority of intersex-led organizations. Stakeholder voices remain under-represented in research. OBJECTIVES: This study aimed to explore the experiences of intersex young adults participating in health research, with the goal of gathering recommendations to improve intersex-affirming research

'It's not just a matter of taking the drug. It's about changing the way you function in your society too': Narratives of power and resistance in the lived experiences of opioid agonist therapy consumers in regional Victoria, Australia.

Opioid Agonist Therapy (OAT) has initiated extensive discussion regarding its efficacy, cost-effectiveness and best practice delivery. Although this discussion has been dominated by pharmacologists, clinicians, pharmacists and public policy-makers, there is increasing interest in examining OAT consumer experience and voice, particularly regarding consumers' navigation and experience of the social field of their treatment. Concerned with the expression and circulation of power and resistance, Michel Foucault's work offers rich resources for examining OAT consumers' experience and navigation of

Tutorial: Using Community Engagement Studios to Enhance Pharmacogenetic Study Design for Maximizing Enrollment of Diverse Children and Pregnant People.

Most pharmacogenetic research is conducted in adult, non-pregnant populations of European ancestry. Study of more diverse and special populations is necessary to validate findings and improve health equity. However, there are significant barriers to recruitment of diverse populations for genetic studies, such as mistrust of researchers due to a history of unethical research and ongoing social inequities. Engaging communities and understanding community members' perspectives may help to overcome these barriers and improve research quality. Here, we highlight one method for engaging communities,
