The neurotoxic effects of the root canal filling materials--Endomethasone, N2 Universal, Traitement SPAD, Sealapex, and Calciobiotic Root Canal Sealer (CRCS)--were investigated on isolated rat sciatic nerves after local application. All of the canal filling materials reversibly inhibited the compound action potential (cAP) amplitudes. N2 Universal produced a 50% inhibition in 4.2 +/- 0.2 min. Traitement SPAD, Endomethasone, and CRCS produced the same inhibition in 6.4 +/- 0.3, 6.5 +/- 0.2, and 6.6 +/- 1.1 min, and Sealapex in 9.2 +/- 2.0 min. A method of endodontic treatment, using a modification of Maisto's paste, is suggested for preservation of infected primary teeth. Adding more zinc-oxide reagent and other anti-bacterial materials to the original Walkhoff's paste (Kri 1), for pulp canal medication and final filling, seems to improve the pharmacological effect of the paste by reducing the resorption rate. The literature is reviewed and a case with a follow-up time of three and a half years is described, in which the tooth remained stable.

Gilthead sea bream juveniles were fed different doses (0, 50, 100, 200, 300 ppm) of NEXT ENHANCE®150 (NE) for 9 weeks. OBJECTIVE: The purpose was to show the capacity of zinc oxide and eugenol to affect the growth of Aspergillus fumigatus.
STUDY DESIGN: An in vitro microbiological analysis was conducted on samples from infected maxillary sinuses and on 3 different endodontic sealers.
RESULTS: Tests showed that zinc oxide in solution favors the growth of Aspergillus fumigatus, while eugenol inhibits this growth, even when mixed with zinc oxide powder. This inhibiting effect decreases over time. A reduced effectiveness was demonstrated over a 75-day period.
CONCLUSIONS: The hypothesis is that the diminishing
