Finite element analysis of bone resorption risk and stress distribution in anterior restorations supported by hybrid abutments produced using CAD-CAM systems.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the stress distribution caused by different CAD-CAM abutments in immediate and delayed loading procedures in the maxillary central tooth area. Six different hybrid abutment models [titanium (control), zirconia, lithium disilicate, polymer-infiltrated hybrid ceramics, polyetheretherketone, and polymethyl methacrylate] were created. The von Mises stress values of the implant, Ti-base, implant screw, abutment, and crown, as well as the maximum and minimum principal stress values formed in the cortical and trabecular bone and the bone resorption risk index

OCCLUSAL TRAUMA OF IMPLANT-SUPPORTED METAL-CERAMIC CROWN: A CASE REPORT.

In this article there is a clinical case of occlusion trauma of implant-supported metal-ceramic crown for prosthetics of central incisor. Its uniqueness is the possibility to save dental implant after acute occlusion impact, which was strong enough to break ceramic facing of fixed denture, but not able to destroy bone and implant components. The occlusion force located at the incisal edge of the crown induced a reverse torque to the implant and did not result in its failure or bone resorption. In a year after repeated fixed prosthetics, the results of clinical examination proved absence of any

Expanding torque possibilities: A skeletally anchored torqued cantilever for uprighting "kissing molars".

Several uprighting mechanics and devices have been used for repositioning tipped molars. "Kissing molars" (KMs) are an uncommon tooth impaction involving 2 severely tipped mandibular molars with their occlusal surfaces positioned crown to crown, with the roots pointing in opposite directions. Orthodontic uprighting of KMs has not been a usual treatment protocol, and it can be a challenging task due to the severe tipping and double impaction, requiring efficient and well-controlled uprighting mechanics. An innovative skeletally anchored cantilever, which uses the torque principle for uprighting

Influence of prosthetic parameters on peri-implant bone resorption in the first year of loading: a multi-factorial analysis.

BACKGROUND: The first year of prosthetic loading is crucial to peri-implant bone levels; however, contributing factors are yet barely understood. PURPOSE: The purpose of the study is to investigate the influence of patient-, implant-, and prosthetic-related parameters on marginal bone resorption in partially edentulous patients within the first year of prosthetic loading. MATERIALS AND METHODS: This retrospective multifactorial analysis involved the following influencing factors: patient gender and age, implant diameter, implant location and neck design, insertion torque, insertion depth, sp

Dentinogenesis imperfecta type II: ultrastructure of teeth in sagittal sections.

The morphological abnormalities of the teeth of patients affected by dentinogenesis imperfecta type 2 (DI-II) may underlie the difficulties with the clinical restoration of such teeth. We therefore performed a scanning electron microscopy (SEM) study of four permanent first mandibular molars of four DI-II patients with periapical pathosis. The teeth were prepared for SEM evaluation by standard methods. In the crown, the enamel presented a highly irregular surface with a number of cracks and crevices. In some places, only granular remains of the enamel were found, while in other parts of the cr

Surgical management of dentigerous cyst arises from ectopic tooth: A report of three consecutive cases and literature review.

BACKGROUND: Dentigerous cysts are slow-growing, asymptomatic lesions that typically form around the crowns of impacted teeth. They are not detected until they start to harm the tissues around the teeth. AIM: The present study aimed to describe surgical techniques for treating dentigerous cysts associated with ectopic teeth. CASES: Three patients with dentigerous cysts associated with ectopic teeth, their surgical approaches, and the supporting literature are presented herein. In two cases, the surgical technique used was intra-oral, and in one case was extra-oral. Under general anesthesia, d

[Acute respiratory distress in a frail older patient: spontaneous tooth aspiration].

A 68-year-old man presented at the emergency room with acute difficulty breathing. On account of recent subarachnoidal haemorrhage the patient was a resident of a care facility, and was also being treated for acute bronchitis there. Radiographic imaging of the lungs revealed a tooth with crown and pontic to have been inhaled. The tooth was surgically removed. After 3 weeks in the intensive care unit, the patient died of aspiration pneumonia. Spontaneous tooth aspiration is rare, yet it can have fatal consequences in vulnerable older patients. Aspiration of a foreign body may lead to injury and

Pre-eruptive intracoronal resorption in a 10-year-old girl: a review and case report.

Pre-Eruptive Intracoronal Resorption (PEIR) is a pathological condition characterized by the resorption of dental tissues within the crown of an unerupted tooth. It is typically asymptomatic and is most often identified incidentally during radiographic examinations. The exact etiology of PEIR remains unclear, although various theories have been proposed, including developmental disturbances, trauma, and genetic factors. This article aims to provide a comprehensive review of PEIR, following the Case Report (CARE) checklist, to enhance understanding and awareness of this dental anomaly.

[Orthodontic repositioning technic of impacted lower 2nd molars].

Author explains an orthodontic appliance which permits uprighting of horizontal impacted mandibular second molar teeth, associating a mandibular anchorage and an uprighting auxiliary spring. The anchorage consist in a Mollin lower lingual arch. The auxiliary spring will upright the tooth in two steps. First one, it will induce a distal movement of the second molar. Second one it will induce the crown tipping. The significant benefit of this appliance is to permit an only orthodontic approach, without necessity of any surgical assistance.

[Geostatics in impacted mandibular third molar surgury].

Exploring the application of minimally invasive techniques in the extraction of impacted mandibular third molar (IMTM), to achieve the treatment goal of "less trauma, short time, fast recovery", remains the focus of dentists. For now, the IMTM are mostly extracted in pieces after removing the crown and root resistance by bone removal and tooth segmentation, using 45°reverse-angle high speed turbine, piezosurgery, chisel or other dynamic system. However, There is a lack of principle-level parsing in different provinces and primary hospitals, while experience is still the main factor in avoiding

Central odontogenic fibroma, hyperplastic dental follicle, or dentigerous cyst? A diagnostic dilemma: A case report.

Central odontogenic fibroma (COF) is an extremely rare benign odontogenic tumor, which is associated with an unerupted tooth in one-third of the cases. Hyperplastic dental follicle (HDF) is an odontogenic hamartomatous lesion associated with delayed or tooth eruption failure in young patients. Dentigerous cyst (DC) is an epithelial-lined developmental cyst surrounding the crown of an unerupted or impacted tooth. Here, we present a case of 13-year-old boy with pericoronal radiolucency around impacted right maxillary canine tooth, which detected during routine dental examination on panoramic rad

High-resolution computed tomographic analysis of tooth replacement pattern of the basal neoceratopsian Liaoceratops yanzigouensis informs ceratopsian dental evolution.

The dental morphology and tooth replacement pattern of Liaoceratops yanzigouensis, the earliest known neoceratopsian, are important for our understanding of the evolution of the ceratopsian dental system. Here we describe the dental morphology and tooth replacement of Liaoceratops yanzigouensis based on high-resolution computed tomographic (CT) scan data of three specimens including the holotype, the first study for basal ceratopsian. The three-dimensional reconstructions reveal some important new information, including: three teeth in the premaxilla in one side, two more teeth in the dentary

Implant-Assisted Removable Partial Dentures with Surveyed Crowns: A Narrative Review of Treatment Concepts, Material Considerations, and Clinical Outcomes.

Background: Tooth loss remains a major clinical challenge, affecting mastication, speech, facial aesthetics, and oral health-related quality of life. Prosthetic rehabilitation must therefore balance functional demands, biological limitations, patient preferences, maintenance capacity, and cost. Implant-assisted removable partial dentures (IARPDs) have emerged as a practical alternative to conventional removable partial dentures (RPDs) and full-arch fixed implant prostheses, particularly in distal-extension cases where conventional RPDs often demonstrate greater displacement and unfavorable str
