Antral gastrin-producing cell densities, as well as serum gastrin and gastric acid secretion were obtained prior to parietal cell vagotomy from 60 patients suffering from chronic duodenal ulcer disease. Seventy-five patients with unsatisfactory results following vagotomy, drainage and cholecystectomy have been reviewed. The operations were performed together in 45 patients, vagotomy preceded cholecystectomy in 16 patients and cholecystectomy was performed before vagotomy in 14 patients. Between January 1, 1965 and December 31, 1974, 47 patients were treated at the University of Florida Affiliated Hospitals for peptic ulcer after a generally acceptable ulcer operation.
