[Appearance of angry backfiring C-nociceptor (ABC) syndrome-like pain disorder in cross-side of one-side spinal anesthesia].

ABC (angry backfiring C-nociceptor) syndrome-like pain disorder categorized in sympathetic independent pain appeared after amputation during spinal anesthesia. A 69-year-old female who had undergone amputation of the right leg below knee 5 months before, received amputation of the left leg below knee this time because of diabetic neuropathy and gangrene of her both legs. There were no complications in her right leg after the former amputation. Spinal anesthesia was maintained in the left one-side by hyperbaric local anesthetic. After changing the body position from left lateral to supine, the

[0.5 mg intrathecal morphine in spinal anesthesia. A double blind study on sensory block, postoperative analgesia and adverse effects].

In a randomized double-blind study the influence of morphine 0.5 mg on the development and regression of spinal anaesthesia, the postoperative analgesia and the side effects were investigated. Forty-two patients received an isobaric spinal anaesthesia with tetracaine 20 mg without morphine (n = 19) or with morphine 0.5 mg (n = 23). The sensory blockade was tested by pinprick; the patients evaluated their postoperative pain with an analogue scale. Arterial blood gases, respiratory rate, blood pressure and heart rate were measured and side effects determined. In the test group the cranial level

Large congenital cervical teratoma in a neonate: EXIT procedure under spinal anesthesia and early surgical excision -A case report.

BACKGROUND: Cervical teratomas are rare congenital tumors in neonates associated with high morbidity and mortality due to the potential for severe airway obstruction at birth. Here, we present a case of successful airway management using an ex utero intrapartum treatment (EXIT) procedure under spinal anesthesia for a prenatally detected cervical mass, with definitive treatment achieved by postnatal surgical excision. CASE: The infant was born via emergency cesarean section after exhibiting fetal distress due to a cervical mass and underwent an EXIT procedure under spinal anesthesia. A surgica

Effect of Maternal Table Tilt During Cesarean Delivery Under Spinal Anesthesia on Norepinephrine Requirements: A Prospective Observational Comparative Study.

Background: Left lateral tilt is traditionally recommended during cesarean delivery to reduce aortocaval compression and maintain maternal hemodynamic stability; however, with the widespread adoption of prophylactic vasopressor strategies recommended by current guidelines, the incremental benefit of routine tilt remains uncertain. Methods: We conducted a prospective, nonrandomized observational comparative study at the University Hospital Bratislava including 99 women undergoing elective cesarean delivery under spinal anesthesia. Participants were managed either with a standard ~15° left later

Comparison of General vs. Spinal Anesthesia in Diabetic Foot Patients undergoing MLLA in LMIC - A post propensity score matching.

OBJECTIVES: Diabetic foot ulcers frequently require Major Lower Limb Amputation (MLLA) which is a high-risk procedure particularly in Lower-Middle-Income Countries (LMICs). While regional anesthesia is theorized to offer better hemodynamic stability generally, there is a lack of conclusive evidence comparing Spinal Anesthesia (SA) and General Anesthesia (GA) specifically in infected diabetic foot population who have different hemodynamic profile due to longstanding diabetes generally. METHODOLOGY: This retrospective cohort study evaluated perioperative outcomes in one hundred diabetic patient

Comparative Study of Hyperbaric Bupivacaine Versus Levobupivacaine for Rapid Sequence Spinal Anesthesia in Category 1 and 2 Cesarean Sections.

Introduction Spinal anesthesia (SA) is widely preferred for cesarean sections (CS) due to its association with decreased mortality compared to general anesthesia. This preference applies to urgent clinical situations where prompt delivery is required because of maternal or fetal concerns. To minimize time constraints in these urgent situations, "rapid sequence SA (RSSA)," which involves executing only essential steps and limiting administration attempts, has emerged as a safer and faster alternative. Among the local anesthetics used for spinal anesthesia, hyperbaric bupivacaine and levobupivac

Association between body mass index and perioperative shivering after elective cesarean delivery under spinal anesthesia: a prospective observational study.

INTRODUCTION: Perioperative shivering (POS) is a common complication of spinal anesthesia (SA) during cesarean section (C/S), with incidence rates ranging from 36% to 85%. This study explored the association between third-trimester body mass index (BMI) and POS in women undergoing elective C/S under SA. MATERIALS AND METHODS: In this prospective cohort study, 180 pregnant women scheduled for elective C/S were categorized into three BMI groups: normal (18.5-24.9 kg/m²), overweight (25-29.9 kg/m²), and obese (≥ 30 kg/m²). Shivering severity (Crossley and Mahajan scale), complications, and treat

Cardiac ultrasound-guided crystalloid preloading before spinal anesthesia vs. standard coloading for scheduled cesarean delivery: a randomized controlled trial.

BACKGROUNDS: Spinal anesthesia for cesarean delivery commonly causes maternal hypotension (60-80%), leading to adverse maternal and fetal outcomes. Standard crystalloid coloading is preferred over preloading, but individualized fluid strategies based on preload dependence remain untested. METHODS: In this randomized controlled trial (NCT07108881) conducted at the Tunis Maternity Center, 96 ASA II women with singleton pregnancies scheduled for elective cesarean under spinal anesthesia and preload dependent (ΔLVOT VTI ≥ 12% after passive leg raising via cardiac ultrasound) were enrolled (n=96)

Classic incisional hernia repair under awake thoracic combined spinal -epidural anesthesia in a geriatric patient with multiple co-morbidities.

INTRODUCTION AND IMPORTANCE: Routine general anesthesia with tracheal intubation is an undesirable and risky technique in individuals with pre-existing chronic respiratory diseases undergoing abdominal surgery. Instead, other modalities of regional anesthesia, such as combined thoracic spinal -epidural anesthesia, could be used as the only anesthetic technique with more excellent health care outcomes. CASE PRESENTATION: We introduce a 72-year-old morbidly obese female with multiple comorbidities who underwent successful open surgical repair for incarcerated abdominal hernia under awake combin
