A very sensitive and eco-friendly second-derivative spectrofluorimetric method was developed for simultaneous analysis of hydrochlorothiazide (HCTZ), amlodipine besylate (AML), and telmisartan (TEL) in pharmaceutical products and human plasma. The three-step radiosynthesis of N-succinimidyl 4-[(18)F]fluorobenzoate ([(18)F]SFB) was adapted to a remotely controlled synthesis module. After optimization of the reaction conditions, the final [(18)F]SFB was obtained in decay-corrected radiochemical yields of 34-38% (related to [(18)F]fluoride; n=12) within a synthesis time of 68 min. The radiochemical purity was in the range of 93-96%.

A woman had symmetrically distributed pruritic nodules for more than 40 years. Microscopically they were characterized by proliferation of nonmyelinated nerve fibers (Pautrier's neuroma) and a total absence of epidermal involvement. Anetoderma developed at the site of former nodules. Her condition responded favorably to repeated retinoid therapy with regression of nodules in those sites in which retinoid dermatitis had developed.

2-Acetylthio-3-benzoylpropionic acid derivatives having two benzene rings or condensed-ring moieties were prepared, and tested for hypolipidemic activity in normal rats. Some of these compounds were active. 2-Acetylthio-3-[4-(phenylthio)benzoyl]propionic acid (10) and its derivatives seemed to have the most potent hypocholesterolemic activities. Compound 10 showed strong activity, especially in cholesterol-fed rats.

Patients taking immunosuppressive drugs are susceptible to various forms of infection, including dermatologic disease.
