INTRODUCTION: Air and paintball guns have been in existence for over 400 year. Although serious injury or death can result from the use of such guns, previous literature has not mentioned the issue of the penetration of the sigmoid colon by an air gun pellet.

INTRODUCTION: The low incidence of colon injury due to blunt abdominal trauma and the lack of a definitive diagnostic method for the same can lead to delays in diagnosis and treatment, subsequently resulting in high morbidity and mortality.
CASE PRESENTATION: A 66-year-old woman with sigmoid colon injury was admitted to our emergency department after sustaining blunt abdominal trauma. Her physical examination findings and laboratory results led to a decision to perform a laparotomy; exploration revealed a sigmoid colon injury that was treated by sigmoid loop colostomy.

Iatrogenic colon injury during a colonoscopy procedure is rare. The controversy exists when the surgical treatment of such lesions is concerned: operative or conservative. This case report is in favor of the operative endoscopic approach, with a literature review. An 80-year-old male sustained an iatrogenic endoscopic sigmoid colon perforation. Laparoscopic suturing was done within 5 hours after the perforation, with no complications after 4 months of follow-up.

We report the case of a 60-year-old woman referred to us after chest X-ray and mobile computed tomography screening detected an 8-mm nodule in right S2. Transbronchial aspiration cytology suggested a pulmonary metastasis from colorectal cancer. Therefore, we performed a colonoscopy and found a polypoid lesion, 2 cm in diameter, in the sigmoid colon. An analysis of a biopsy specimen from this polypoid lesion confirmed adenocarcinoma. We report a case of sigmoid colon cancer that was left untreated for a period of 4 years, because the patient declined treatment. A 59-year-old man was found to have an early carcinoma of the sigmoid colon measuring approximately 12 mm in diameter. The lesion, initially a flat cancer, increased in height and became sessile 4 months later. Subsequently, the central portion of the lesion became ulcerated, leaving an elevated ring along its periphery. The lesion eventually evolved into an ulcerated, invasive cancer. This sequence has not been observed with colonoscopy before.
