A case of Wilms tumor associated with hydronephrosis is reported. The tumor extended into the dilated renal pelvis but there was no invasion in the mucosa of the ureter or renal pelvis.

The importance of considering hydrometrocolpos as the cause of an abdominal mass in female infants with polydactyly is stressed. Caroli's disease (congenital dilatation of the intrahepatic bile ducts) was diagnosed in an 11-year-old girl with the aid of intravenous cholangiography. Recurrent abdominal pain, fever, and intermittent obstructive jaundice are the most common symptoms and usually develop during childhood or young adulthood. Operative cholangiography has been the most valuable method of diagnosing the condition and determining the location and extent of the disease process.

A previously unreported cardiovascular malformation is presented consisting of aneurysmal dilatation of the right ventricular outflow tract associated with a cardiomyopathy, a possible variant of Uhl's anomaly. On the basis of two fatal cases of perforation of the caecum secondary to dilatation of the colon without obstruction, the authors discuss the measures which should be instituted in the presence of this condition. These consist, preventively, of decompression of the colon by caecostomy if the diameter of the caecum reaches 10 cm and, curatively, a right hemi-colectomy, not associated with immediate re-establishment of the continuity of the digestive tract.

A retrospective study of 105 barium follow-through examinations on 102 patients suspected of having malabsorption syndrome has been carried out to assess the usefulness of this technique in the diagnosis of coeliac disease. Comparison with histological and biochemical data has been made.
