The ultrasound findings of two cases of fallopian tube duplication, both of which had undergone torsion, are described. Two premenarchal girls were examined with ultrasound because of clinical evidence of pelvic pathology. Both were found to have complex cystic structures that on surgery and subsequent pathological examination were shown to be twisted accessory fallopian tubes. Accessory fallopian tubes have been reported to occur in 6-13% of selected patient groups. To our knowledge, torsion of an accessory tube has not been reported in the literature.

A case of primary adenocarcinoma of the Fallopian tube is presented. The diagnosis was made preoperatively by transvaginal color Doppler imaging. The tumor revealed areas of neovascularization with characteristic low impedance (resistance index, 0.35) and high blood flow velocity (peak systolic velocity, 16.7 cm/s).

Fallopian tube obstruction is one of the most difficult problems in the treatment of infertility. This report gives the results of a pilot study on the transcervical recanalization of the occlusive fallopian tube. Selective catheterization of the uterine cornu was applied through a balloon catheter, which was wedged at the internal uterine os. Sex cord tumor with annular tubules (SCTAT) is a distinctive ovarian sex cord-stromal tumor. The authors describe a case of SCTAT arising outside the ovaries, in the fallopian tube. The authors are aware of only one other case of extra-ovarian SCTAT, in an umbilical hernia sac in an adult woman. Proximal tubal obstruction is encountered in 33% of women with tubal factor infertility. Traditional microsurgery and the most recent transcervical tuboplasty have achieved 20% to 30% intrauterine PR. Microdissection of the intramural segment of the fallopian tube with the CO2 laser, resection of the scarred tissue, and microsurgical tubal reanastomosis has resulted in 100% tubal patency and 71% intrauterine PRs.

Sterilization of the fallopian tube via a laparoscope is being performed with increasing frequency. A rare but serious late complication of this procedure is tubal torsion, which occurs especially after monopolar electrocoagulation where the mesosalpinx is extensively damaged. We present a case in which this complication occurred after bipolar electrocoagulation.

Rabbit fallopian tubes were used as models to demonstrate the delayed effects of the argon laser wavelength on tissue. Power density, energy density, and velocity were all variables in the experiment. Three groups of ten rabbits were sacrificed two at a time, on days 0, 5, 10, 15, and 20. A patient with co-existent carcinoma and tuberculosis of the Fallopian tube is described. Tuberculosis was diagnosed by the finding of numerous typical granulomata throughout the uterus, tubes and ovaries, and by exclusion of other possible causes of these; and carcinoma by the finding of solid tumour, with a marked anisocytic appearance, invading submucosa. Despite the well recognised epithelial hyperplasia seen in tuberculous salpingitis, there remains no evidence that the occurrence of carcinoma in such cases is other than fortuitous.

We report a 74-year-old woman with malignant mixed müllerian tumor and three women, aged 47, 58, and 76 years, with carcinosarcomas, all primary in the fallopian tube. The tumors grew predominantly intraluminally and were associated with hydrosalpinx. All four patients underwent salpingectomy. BACKGROUND: Chronic endometritis (CE), frequently asymptomatic, is associated with female infertility. Fallopian tube obstruction (FTO) is also one of the factors contributing to female infertility. More than 90% of cases of proximal FTO can be successfully treated after fallopian tubal recanalization (FTR) and the spontaneous pregnancy rate of treated women after FTR is only about 30%. Potential factors affecting the success rate of FTR remain unclear. We speculate that CE may be one of the reasons affecting the recanalization of the fallopian tubes.
