Galli-Galli disease: A case report with review of the literature.

Galli-Galli disease is a rare variant of the genodermatosis Dowling-Degos disease with the histologic finding of acantholysis. We present the case of a patient who presented with reticulated pigmentary changes in the flexures as well as a pruritic papular eruption and histologic features consistent with Galli-Galli disease. A literature search revealed 3 previous case reports of Galli-Galli disease. These case reports were reviewed and summarized, and the clinical and histologic presentations were compared with those of our patient. In addition, another case report of patients with similar cli

Purpura annularis telangiectodes of Majocchi.

A case is presented of a man with a 3-year history of ulcers in the setting of pigmented, annular and purpuric lesions of the lower extremities. A skin biopsy suggested a diagnosis of purpura annularis telangiectodes of Majocchi. First described in 1896 by Majocchi [1], purpura annularis telangiectodes is an uncommon pigmented purpuric eruption, which is characterized by symmetrical, purpuric, telangiectatic, and atrophic patches with a predilection for the lower extremities and buttocks. Histopathology and immunopathogenesis of this disease are similar to the other subtypes of pigmented purpu

Hypomelanosis of Ito: clinical syndrome or just phenotype?

The term hypomelanosis of Ito is applied to individuals with skin hypopigmentation along the lines of Blaschko. Even though originally described as a purely cutaneous disease, subsequent reports have included a 33% to 94% association with multiple extracutaneous manifestations mostly of the central nervous and musculoskeletal systems leading to frequent characterization as a neurocutaneous disorder. A number of reports claimed familial occurrence and supported single gene inheritance for hypomelanosis of Ito, but none has been proved. Miscellaneous chromosomal mosaicisms have been demonstrated

[Leopard syndrome and pulmonary subvalvular stenosis].

Pulmonary valve stenosis is the most frequent congenital heart disease associated with Leopard syndrome, an inheritable condition with a low incidence that we should be aware of and diagnose early. We describe the evolution of a patient with Leopard Syndrome and pulmonary subvalvular stenosis, from birth to the surgical treatment.

Mycosis fungoides with marked hyperpigmentation.

Pigmentary changes in mycosis fungoides are not rare. Although poikiloderma and hypopigmented skin lesions have often been reported in the literature, there are few cases of mycosis fungoides presenting as a hyperpigmented skin lesion. We present a 57-year-old Japanese male with mycosis fungoides whose skin lesions showed marked hyperpigmentation. The skin lesion initially appeared as an irregularly shaped itchy annular erythema with central pigmentation predominantly on his extremities. During our 5-year follow-up, these skin lesions gradually increased in size and number. The erythema extend

Hypomelanosis of Ito associated with West syndrome: report of a case.

Hypomelanosis of Ito (HI) is a rare neurocutaneous disorder characterized by hypopigmented macules along the Blaschko line and multiple abnormalities, including seizures, developmental retardation, ophthalmologic defects, and chromosome mosaicism. We report a four-month-old female baby with typical skin lesions on the right upper limb, chest, and scalp, noted at the age of one week. She also had a seizure disorder which manifested as neck flexion and hand gripping with series formation from the age of three months. Electroencephalogram (EEG) demonstrated modified hypsarrhythmia. The characteri

A study on the removal of the melanin pigmentation of dog gingiva by CO 2 laser irradiation.

Removal of melanin pigmentation of the gingiva with CO 2 laser irradiation was investigated. The melanin-pigmented gingiva of 5 dogs were classified according to the degree of gingival pigmentation (slight, moderate, severe) and its extent (local, extensive). CO 2 laser was irradiated on the surface of the pigmented gingiva under the following conditions; defocused beams of spot size 4 mm, irradiation time 0.2(S), output 6-8(W)). That is, the irradiation energy density was 9.6-12.8 J/cm 2. The irradiated gingiva was examined macroscopically and histopathologically. The histopathological change
