BACKGROUND: Iridocorneal endothelial (ICE) syndrome occurs mainly in young and middle-aged women and typically presents as a unilateral disease characterized by abnormalities of the iris and corneal endothelium. While the ICE syndrome is known to be associated with glaucoma and bullous keratopathy, to our knowledge, only two cases of ICE syndrome complicated with cystoid macular edema (CME) have been reported to date. DATA SOURCES: Citations in Google Scholar, PubMed, and Web of Science from January 1, 2005, to March 25, 2013, were identified using nepafenac and cataract as search terms.

BACKGROUND: The efficacy of topical nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) for inflammation in the anterior segment, and pain control after cataract surgery, is well established. However, their effectiveness in the posterior segment has not been as well studied. Nepafenac ophthalmic suspension, 0.1% is a new topical NSAID pro-drug that has been approved by the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for the treatment of pain and inflammation after cataract surgery. Preclinical data suggest nepafenac may also provide unique efficacy in the posterior segment.

In this study, the effect of the kappa-opioid agonist U-69593 on the intracellular calcium level in R1.1. cells was investigated using FURA 2-AM dye. Histamine release from basophil granulocytes in whole blood by benzylpenicilloyl poly-L-lysine (PPL) was investigated in 7 patients with penicillin allergy. All patients presented with systemic immediate hypersensitivity reactions after i.v. administration of penicillin G. We report a case of survival for nearly 8 years after treatment of unresectable multiple liver metastases from colon cancer, using microwave ablation and the nontoxic antitumor agent, the antineoplastons. A 72-year-old man diagnosed with adenocarcinoma of the ascending colon and 14 bilateral liver metastases underwent a right hemicolectomy combined with microwave ablation of six metastatic liver tumors. Repeated intermittent administration of cocaine (20 mg kg-1, i.p.) for 3 days dramatically increased basal dopamine (DA) overflow in the nucleus accumbens (ACB) 48 h after the final daily injection. The effect of chronic treatment with epanolol, a new cardioselective beta-adrenoreceptor antagonist with moderate beta 1-selective intrinsic sympathomimetic activity (ISA), on 24 h ambulatory intra-arterial blood pressure (24 h IABP) and the sino-aortic baroreceptor heart rate (SAB/HR) reflex was investigated in six hypertensive subjects. 2.
