The term tracheal bronchus encompasses a variety of bronchial anomalies originating from the trachea or main bronchus and directed to the upper lobe, and a true tracheal bronchus is any bronchus originating from the trachea. In most cases, it is found incidentally during bronchoscopy or tomography. It is often unilateral, and bilateral true tracheal bronchi are very rare. We report a case of a 54-year-old woman who had bilateral true tracheal bronchi associated with hemoptysis.

MATERIALS AND METHODS: Initial (n = 17) and follow-up (n = 7) CT scans were available from 17 patients (five men and 12 women; aged 25-82 years old) with tracheobronchial tuberculosis. The diagnosis of tuberculosis was based on bronchoscopic, microbiologic, or pathologic findings.

Little is known about the strength of suture lines and stapled closures of the bronchus, pulmonary arteries, and pulmonary veins. This experiment tested and compared the hydrostatic leakage point of each of these structures when closed by either sutures or staples. Fourteen fresh mature porcine cadavers and 8 human cadavers of age greater than 50 years were studied to determine whether the pig could be used as an appropriate model for future in vivo studies. 12 adult patients with perennial asthma and chronic skin infection were found to have immediate hypersensitivity to Trichophyton spp. 10 patients were tested by bronchial provocation and gave immediate bronchial reactions to an extract of T tonsurans.
