Chin deviation is generally the visible reflex of a mandibular asymmetry. The difficulty in obtaining a symmetrical result exists, but it can be minimized with the appropriate surgical technique. Numb Chin Syndrome (NCS) is a sensory neuropathy that was first described in the early 1800s. It has various etiologies, most commonly benign local pathology. However, NCS has been documented as the primary presenting symptom of systemic malignancy, most commonly breast cancer.1 This is the case of a young male who presented to the emergency department with complaints of a numb chin and was ultimately found to have invasive neoplastic lesions in the right tonsillar and mandibular regions of the face arising from metastatic large B-cell lymphoma.

Chin reshaping can provide a more identifiable female appearance for transitioning male to female patients undergoing facial feminization. The "sliding" genioplasty has the most potential for dramatically reshaping the chin, while also avoiding many of the issues that may occur with implants. A chin should be evaluated radiologically and by physical examination to determine what changes should be made to any particular chin. When performing osseous genioplasty, the mental nerve can be protected by performing any osteotomies at least 6 mm below the inferior border of the mental nerve canal.

Reconstruction of defects of the lips after Mohs micrographic surgery should encompass functional and aesthetic concerns. The lower lip and chin compose two-thirds of the lower portion of the face. BACKGROUND: Correction of chin underprojection has a significant effect on facial symmetry. Alloplastic chin implants and sliding genioplasty represent the accepted methods of chin augmentation. This article describes a design of osseous chin surgery based on the principle of the tenon and mortise. This modification allows for precision of movement, ease of repositioning, and adaptation of rigid skeletal stabilization of mobilized osseous segments in the chin. With this technique, the inferior border of the mandible can be moved superiorly, inferiorly, anteriorly, posteriorly, or transversely or in any combination of these directions.
