Pure transanal endoscopic colectomy for ascending colon cancer.

BACKGROUND: Previous studies have demonstrated that pure transanal endoscopic surgery is safe and feasible in the treatment of rectal cancer. However, the role of pure transanal endoscopic colectomy in ascending colon cancer (ACC) treatment has not been evaluated. We report a case of transanal endoscopic surgery for ACC. METHODS: A 35-year-old woman was treated for ACC, using a transanal endoscopic surgery device as the operation platform, and pure transanal endoscopic right hemicolectomy without transabdominal assistance was safely performed. An instrument suture, side-to-side, ileocolic ana

Laparoscopic resection of schwannoma of the ascending colon.

Schwannomas of the colon are rare and difficult to diagnose preoperatively. We report a case of schwannoma of the ascending colon that was resected laparoscopically. A 64-year-old woman was referred to our hospital by her local clinic for further evaluation and management of a submucosal tumor of the ascending colon. A definitive preoperative diagnosis could not be reached despite examinations. Gastrointestinal stromal tumor, leiomyoma and lymphoma were the differential diagnoses. We performed a laparoscopic right hemicolectomy with D2 lymph node dissection. Histological findings with hematoxy

[A Case of Adenosquamous Carcinoma of the Ascending Colon].

We report a case of adenosquamous carcinoma of the colon. A 70-year-old woman underwent a colonoscopic examination because of a positive fecal occult blood test. Colonoscopy demonstrated a type 2 tumor of the ascending colon, and a biopsy specimen showed poorly-moderately differentiated tubular adenocarcinoma. We performed a right hemicolectomy with D2 lymphadenectomy. The histopathology of the tumor demonstrated adenosquamous adenocarcinoma. Primary adenosquamous carcinoma of the colon is relatively rare and has a poor prognosis. Therefore, adenosquamous carcinoma of the colon may require str

Synchronous carcinoma of the ascending colon and caecum.

The caecum and the ascending colon are the colon segments most frequently affected by tumoral synchronism. Synchronous colorectal carcinoma etiopathogenesis is complex and most likely by malignancy of preexisting adenomas (adenoma-adenocarcinoma sequence). The following tumoral synchronism clinical case's particularity is represented by the simultaneous diagnosis of a flat-type adenocarcinoma of the caecum (less common histopathological type) and of a mucinous adenocarcinoma on the ascending colon. Tumor profiles of both carcinomas were examined histologically and immunohistochemically, emphas
