Three newborn infants were observed to have murmurs restricted to diastole. None was considered ill, and none has exhibited symptoms or findings of cardiopulmonary disease throughout follow-up. Localization of the diastolic timing and absence of a significant systolic component of the murmur were confirmed by phonocardiography. The transient nature of the finding was established by serial phonocardiography. Diastolic heart failure (DHF), in which impaired ventricular filling leads to typical heart failure symptoms, represents over 50% of all heart failure cases and is linked with risk factors, including metabolic syndrome, hypertension, diabetes, and aging. A 70-year-old man with a diastolic Levine V/VI musical murmur came to our department. Doppler color-flow imaging showed eccentric severe aortic regurgitation. UNLABELLED: Rheumatoid arthritis ( RA) is a chronic and systemic articular inflammatory disease, often associated with cardiac manifestations. However, cardiac involvement in RA is not always symptomatic. Previous studies reported high mortality rates for RA and that it was dependent on concurrent heart dis-ease. Myocardial infarction and inflammation have been reported in about 2% of the patients in autopsy studies. The earliest deterioration in cardiac disease is in diastolic function.

We show our experience in the diagnostic and management of 19 pregnancies with absent or reverse diastolic blood flow velocity (ARFV) in the umbilical artery. The presence of ARFV was a rare condition (2.2% of the high risk patients), and it was associated with a poor prognosis shown by the high percentage of fetuses SGD (small for gestational age) (63.2%), malformations and hydrops fetalis (26%) and asphyxiated fetuses, giving a final perinatal mortality rate of 36.8%.
