OBJECTIVE: To compare the urodynamic diagnostic types of dysuria in female patients of different age groups.
METHODS: Six hundred and sixteen female patients with dysuria were evaluated from March 1997 to July 2008. No patients had history of nervous system disease and history of lower urinary tract operations. They had detrusor pressure-flow studies and uroflowmetry. Idiopathic hypercalciuria (IH) is being diagnosed with increasing frequency in the pediatric population and occurs in approximately 2.9-6.2% of normal children. Leiomyoma of the bladder is an unusual cause of benign smooth muscle tumor, only reported about 250 times in the literature. We evaluated the role of conservative treatment for urethritis and its complications after simultaneous pancreas-kidney (SPK) transplant. Twenty-six type I diabetic recipients with end-stage renal disease underwent SPK transplants with bladder exocrine drainage. Urethritis/ dysuria occurred in 4/26 (16%) of the patients. All cases resolved with conservative treatment that included Foley catheter and/or suprapubic cystostomy. Despite the frequency of this urological complication, none of the patients needed diversion of the exocrine drainage from the bladder to the intestine.

A 65-year-old male visited us with complaints of retarded urination, dysuria, gross hematuria, and fever. Urinalysis showed pyuria. Prostatic tumor with lung metastasis was suspected from computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging.
