Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation Meets Virtual Reality: The Potential of Integrating Brain Stimulation With a Simulative Technology for Food Addiction.

The aim of this perspective is to propose and discuss the integration of transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) over the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex with virtual reality (VR) food exposure for therapeutic interventions for food addiction. "Food addiction" is a dysfunctional eating pattern which is typically observed in eating disorders (ED) such as bulimia nervosa and binge eating disorder. Food addiction has been compared to substance use disorder due to the necessity of consuming a substance (food) and the presence of a dependence behavior. In recent years, VR has been applied in the tre

Explore the interaction mechanism between artificial synthetic food colorants and digestive proteases via multi-spectral technology and computer simulation.

This study systematically investigated the interaction mechanism between three synthetic food colorants (allura red, tartrazine, and brilliant blue) and trypsin and pepsin using various spectroscopic techniques and computer simulation methods. The results show that all three food colorants form 1:1 complex through moderate strength non-covalent interactions (mainly hydrophobic forces and hydrogen bonds). Tartrazine has a stronger binding affinity with trypsin, while allura red-pepsin system has a stronger binding affinity. The binding ability of tartrazine with trypsin is greater than that wit

Effect of Innovative Food Processing Technologies on the Physicochemical and Nutritional Properties and Quality of Non-Dairy Plant-Based Beverages.

Increase in allergenicity towards cow's milk, lactose intolerance, the prevalence of hypercholesterolemia, and flexitarian choice of food consumption have increased the market for cow's milk alternatives. Non-dairy plant-based beverages are useful alternatives because of the presence of bioactive components with health-promoting properties, which attract health-conscious consumers. However, the reduced nutritional value and sensory acceptability of the plant-based beverages (such as flavor, taste, and solubility) compared to cow's milk pose a big threat to its place in the market. Thermal trea

Novel food processing technologies to reduce egg allergenicity: a review from allergen digestion to IgE-mediated responses.

Eggs are a high-quality nutrient source that is widely used in food products. However, eggs are also recognized as allergenic foods that can induce severe allergic reactions, particularly in infants and children. Egg allergies are primarily caused by six egg allergens (ovomucoid, ovalbumin, ovotransferrin, lysozyme, alpha-livetin, and YGP42). During gastrointestinal digestion, the structures of egg allergens are altered by enzymatic hydrolysis and absorbed into the body. Certain absorbed allergens retain immunoglobulin E (IgE)-specific epitopes that can interact with IgE and elicit an IgE-medi

A summary on cutting edge advancements in sterilization and cleaning technologies in medical, food, and drug industries, and its applicability to spacecraft hardware.

Issued primarily by COSPAR (the Committee On SPAce Research), international Planetary Protection Policies mandate that all spacecraft hardware in contact with extraterrestrial environments "of chemical evolution and/or origin of life interest and for which scientific opinion provides a significant chance of contamination which could compromise future investigations" (Kminek and Rummel, 2015) undergo biological burden control processes. These policies seek to limit the (forward) biological contamination of the target body by terrestrial microorganisms on the spacecraft, so that future missions
