[Isolated anterior cervical hypertrichosis].

Anterior cervical hypertrichosis was described by Trattner and coworkers in 1991. It consists of a <<tuft>> of hair at the anterior cervical level just above the laryngeal prominence. To date, only 28 cases of anterior cervical hypertrichosis have been reported. Although it is normally an isolated finding, it may be associated with mental retardation, hallux valgus, retinal disorders, other hair disorders, facial dysmorphism, or sensory and motor peripheral neuropathy. We report the case of a 27-year-old woman who presented with this condition as an isolated finding.

[How I treat ... hypertrichosis].

Hypertrichosis can result from various origins and exhibit diverse clinical presentations. Any etiological treatment, when available, does not always lead to regression of the excess in pilosity. Most often, hypertrichosis represents a real esthetic burden and affects the patient's self-esteem. Currently the laser epilation technique offers new and promising therapeutic possibilities.

Primary multifocal localized hypertrichosis.

We describe a new variant of congenital hypertrichosis, primary multifocal localized hypertrichosis in a mother and her son. They presented with long vellus hair on the trunk and arms in foci from birth. They also associated some forms of hair dysplasia.

Generalized hypertrichosis syndromes in Mexico.

Hypertrichosis is a rare condition characterized by excessive hair in areas of the body that are not predominantly androgen dependent. We can identify three main syndromes with congenital generalized hypertrichosis terminalis described in Mexico. The first is X-linked generalized hypertrichosis, an ultra-rare disease, with few cases reported to date. The second is Cantú syndrome, also known as hypertrichotic osteochondrodysplasia, which has a wide spectrum of clinical manifestations and is caused by pathogenic variants in ABCC9 and KCNJ8. The third is congenital hypertrichosis terminalis with …

Gingival fibromatosis with congenital hypertrichosis.

Idiopathic gingival fibromatosis is a slowly progressive proliferative fibrous lesion of the gingival tissue, leading to functional, esthetic, and psychological difficulties. This entity is mainly associated with hypertrichosis and epilepsy either as an isolated disorder or as part of a syndrome. We present a case report of a female with severe generalized gingival fibromatosis and hypertrichosis which was treated by conventional gingivectomies under local anesthesia. Postoperative healing was uneventful with a marked improvement in patient's appearance and oral hygiene.

Localized Hypertrichosis at Vaccination Site.

Hypertrichosis is described as an increased hair growth on any part or over whole body in comparison to persons of the same age, sex, and race which is independent of androgen excess. It may be localized and generalized or alternatively acquired and congenital forms. The acquired localized hypertrichosis has been associated with various causes including local trauma, chronic irritation, inflammation, occlusion by cast, and drugs. Here, we report a case of 2½-month-old healthy infant presenting with localized area of hypertrichosis over anterolateral aspect of the left thigh which was confined …
