Dental treatment provided to young adult Danes enrolled in alternative dental programs during a 3-year period.

From age 16 to 19 years three groups of young adults received alternative dental programs on termination of the Public Child Dental Health Service (PCDHS) in different municipalities: public group, n = 386; mixed group, n = 161; and private group, n = 261. During the entire study information on dental service use by the participants was taken from the records and National Health Insurance files. All dental services were calculated relative to a standardized Dental Service Unit defined by the value of a dental examination. Fluoridation and the risk of multiple amalgam or composite resin restorations for privately insured Massachusetts children: A retrospective cohort study.

BACKGROUND: Community water fluoridation (CWF) is widely associated with reduced childhood caries. The authors examined whether CWF reduces amalgam or composite resin restoration risk among privately insured children in Massachusetts. METHODS: In this retrospective cohort study, the authors analyzed dental insurance claims (2016-2019) linked to municipal fluoridation and Internal Revenue Service data among 35,610 privately insured children aged 1 through 16 years. Linear regression estimated adjusted mean differences in amalgam or composite resin restorations to examinations ratios and Poisso

A coding solution for supernumerary teeth.

In South Africa payments for treatment rendered are routinely delayed because of the medical fund industry's apparent inability to capture codes denoting supernumerary teeth. The suggested protocol allows for up to 13 supernumerary teeth to be identified by two digits. Meetings planned between SADA and key funding stakeholders to "ensure that protocols related to tooth numbering are acceptable", provide the ideal opportunity to introduce the suggested two-digit protocol for numbering supernumerary teeth. If this proposal is implemented, it could alleviate the frustration associated with the re
