Methylene blue staining method was used to distinguish O. viverrini eggs from Haplorchis taichui and Prosthodendrium molenkampi eggs. Methylene blue (MB) commonly found in the textile industry effluent has been chosen as a model dye to investigate bioremediation using Bacillus subtilis MTCC 441. Both free cells and calcium alginate immobilized cells have been used to remove MB from the effluent. A 55-year-old lady presented with recurrent episodes of melena and drop in hemoglobin. Digital subtraction angiography (DSA) revealed angiodysplasia of a vessel supplying the proximal jejunum. In this work we report on the development of novel hybrid material with enhanced photodynamic properties based on methylene blue and CdTe nanocrystals. Of particular concern is the recent demonstration that this virus can be transmitted by blood products and can cause severe illness and mortality in transfusion recipients.
