We report a patient with adult T-cell leukemia/lymphoma ATL/L diagnosed by lymph node biopsy, Ga scintigram and monoclonal integration of HTLV-1 proviral DNA. As lymphadenopathy and skin eruption spontaneously improved and disappeared after admission without any treatment, we considered that spontaneous regression had occurred. Spontaneous remission in a 50-year-old woman with adult T-cell leukemia (ATL) is presented. A 4-month-old infant was admitted with a monoblastic infiltration of the skin associated with osteosclerosis. Both lesions spontaneously disappeared within a few months, but 2 years later, a monoblastic leukemia occurred that was associated with marked skin erythema and myelofibrosis. Skin and bone marrow specimens showed a monoblastic infiltration with numerous intermingled mast cells of normal appearance. Whether myelofibrosis was a feature of a systemic mastocytosis or of the leukemic process is discussed in this case.

A 4 mo old female Finnish lapphund presented for further investigation of a swelling of the right rostral mandible. A 14-year-old Hispanic boy presented with a 0.25-mm wide, sharply demarcated, dark brown band of longitudinal melanonychia of the left thumbnail. A clinical diagnosis of nail matrix nevus was made and the boy was scheduled for follow-up. The band showed proximal fading after 6 months and had completely faded after 11 months, with the proximal nail fold showing small dark brown dots on dermoscopy. We documented the spontaneous regression of melanonychia over 11 months.

Five hundred and sixty-three primary cutaneous melanomas were assessed for the presence of histological regression in relation to the thickness of the lesion and features such as sex, anatomical location and clinical outcome. Regression was more common in thin lesions, being seen in 46% of thin (less than 1.5 mm) lesions, 32% of intermediate (1.5-3.0 mm) lesions and 9% of thick (greater than 3.0 mm) lesions. A giant congenital nevocytic nevus (CNN) on the trunk was followed in a patient from age three months to 23-years-old. During that time the nevus underwent pigmentary regression leaving 2-3 mm lentigines without any evidence of vitiligo or halo formation around the giant CNN. Prenatal diagnosis of a posterior nuchal cystic hygroma was made at 13 weeks of gestation in a fetus diagnosed at birth with Noonan syndrome. Through serial sonographic evaluation during pregnancy, the embryologic evolution of cystic hygroma into nuchal skin thickening was appreciated and later correlated with postnatal findings of nuchal skin fold redundancy and pterygium colli in a patient with Noonan syndrome. These observations support the concept of the jugular lymphatic disruption sequence as pathogenesis of the nuchal findings in severely affected Noonan syndrome patients.

Kaposiform hemangioendothelioma (KHE) is an aggressive vascular tumor often complicated by Kasabach-Merritt phenomenon (KMP), typically requiring aggressive treatment. This study reports four infants with pathologically confirmed KHE without KMP who underwent spontaneous regression under conservative management. Serial MRI showed objective tumor involution over 22-28 months. No KMP or complications occurred. These findings challenge universal aggressive intervention, supporting observation for selected non-coagulopathic cases.

We report a rare case of spontaneous regression of primary hepatic diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) in an 89-year-old man. A 12 cm solitary hepatic mass was found in the anterior and medial segments. Contrast-enhanced CT showed a hypovascular solid tumor. We describe five patients with treated low-grade B-cell neoplasms who subsequently developed Epstein-Barr virus (EBV)-positive B-cell lymphoproliferative disorders (BLPDs).
