Invasive condylomatous vulvar carcinoma associated with multifocal low genital tract neoplasia. A case report.

Squamous cell carcinoma is a morphologically heterogenous neoplasm of specific histologic entities involved in human papillomavirus infection. The condylomatous types of squamous cell vulvar carcinoma, caused by HPV-16, most often manifest as exophytic papillary tumors mimicking condylomas.

A RETROSPECTIVE STUDY OF NEOPLASIA IN NONDOMESTIC FELIDS IN HUMAN CARE, WITH A COMPARATIVE LITERATURE REVIEW.

This retrospective study of neoplasia in nondomestic felids in human care presents the cases diagnosed at Northwest ZooPath (NWZP), Monroe, Washington, from 1998 to 2017 in conjunction with a scoping literature review. The 554 neoplasms identified in 20 species in the NWZP archive were combined with the 984 neoplasms identified in those same species in the published literature. Some of the cases identified in the literature were from the NWZP archive. Based on this review, mammary adenocarcinoma (183/1,483, 12.3%), lymphoma (89/1,483, 6.0%), squamous cell carcinoma (85/1,483, 5.7%), pheochromo

Basaloid Squamous Cell Carcinoma of the Sigmoid Colon.

Basaloid squamous cell carcinoma (BSCC) of the colon is rarely found proximal to the anal canal. We report a case of an 81-year-old woman who was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) of the lung without metastasis and BSCC of the sigmoid with differing histologic findings suggesting that these tumors were separate primary neoplasms. SCC of the colon has a dismal prognosis. Surgery is the primary method of treatment when feasible, in addition to chemotherapeutic agents.

Non-squamous cell carcinoma diseases of the larynx: clinical and imaging findings.

INTRODUCTION: Squamous cell carcinoma is the most common laryngeal neoplasm and accounts for approximately 95% of all malignant neoplams of the larynx. However, various benign and malignant tumors and inflammatory diseases may affect the larynx. OBJECTIVE: The purpose of this study is to analyze the clinical and imaging findings of non-squamous cell neoplasms and inflammatory diseases of the larynx. METHODS: This retrospective study was conducted in 18 patients who were diagnosed with non-squamous cell carcinoma lesions of larynx at our institution between 2007-2017. Clinical symptoms, exami

Incidence of invasive cancers following cutaneous malignant melanoma.

It has long been suggested that subjects diagnosed with cutaneous malignant melanoma (CMM) have an excess rate of subsequent neoplasms. To provide further quantitative information on the issue, we have considered 1,780 histologically confirmed CMM diagnosed between 1974 and 1994 by the Cancer Registries of the French-speaking Swiss Cantons of Vaud and Neuchatel (760,000 inhabitants) and followed up to the end of 1994 for the occurrence of a second primary. A total of 194 neoplasms was observed vs. 111.7 expected, corresponding to a standardized incidence ratio (SIR) of 1.7 [95% confidence inte

Alimentary Tract Neoplasia in Captive Bearded Dragons (Pogona spp).

There are multiple reports of gastric neuroendocrine carcinoma in bearded dragons (Pogona spp), but other types of alimentary neoplasia are rarely reported. In a retrospective study, we identified 51 cases of neoplasia, including gastric (n = 26), oral (n = 18), intestinal (n = 13), oesophageal (n = 3) and cloacal (n = 2) neoplasms. Round cell neoplasia was diagnosed in the alimentary tract in 14 cases, all of which had extra-alimentary involvement, most commonly in the liver, lung, spleen and kidney, and was considered to be the cause of death or euthanasia in all cases. Oral neoplasms includ

Subungual squamous cell carcinoma.

Although subungual squamous cell carcinoma is rare, it is the most common primary malignant neoplasms in this location. The higher incidence occurs in the fingernails, but involvement of the toenails is also possible. Subungual squamous cell carcinoma often looks like other more common benign lesions, such as fungal infection, onychomycosis, or viral wart. These factors, together with a general lack of awareness of this disease among physicians, often result in delayed diagnosis. Therefore, it is underdiagnosed, with few reports in the literature. The authors present a case of a man with a dia

Warty squamous cell carcinoma of the vulva in older women: association with human papillomavirus.

Warty squamous cell carcinoma (WSCC), a rare variant of squamous cell carcinoma occurring in younger women, is primarily associated with human papillomavirus (HPV) infection. Although WSCC appears to exhibit less aggressive behavior than typical well-differentiated squamous cell carcinoma, it bears the risk of regional metastasis. Accordingly, WSCC should be differentiated from other verruciform neoplasms. We describe a rare case of WSCC with a short disease duration occurring in a woman of old age. We found the presence of HPV DNA different from other well-known types of high risk and low ris

Clear cell carcinomas of the gallbladder and extrahepatic bile ducts.

Although clear cell carcinomas have been described in numerous anatomic sites, their occurrence in the gallbladder and extrahepatic bile ducts (EHBD) is practically unknown. We report 10 such cases. Seven arose in the gallbladder and three in the EHBD; all patients with gallbladder tumors were females with cholelithiasis whose ages ranged from 56 to 68 years. Patients with EHBD tumors were younger (38 and 40 years of age) and had extrahepatic biliary obstruction and abdominal pain. Two patients with gallbladder carcinomas had elevated serum carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) levels, and another wi

Tumors of the nasal cavities induced in rats by 2,2-dioxopropyl-N-propylnitrosamine. Comparative aspects with man.

Weekly SC administration of 2,2-dioxopropylnitrosamine to 88 Sprague-Dawley rats resulted in the induction of 76 separate neoplasms in the respiratory region of the nasal cavities. No tumors of the olfactory region were found. Histologically there were 37 squamous papillomas, 17 transitional papillomas, and 22 squamous cell carcinomas. These tumors were compared with a selected group of 53 related human tumors of the nasal and paranasal cavities, consisting of 11 squamous cell papillomas, 13 transitional papillomas, and 29 squamous cell carcinomas. While the experimental squamous cell papillom

Perineurial cells in granular cell tumors and neoplasms with perineural invasion: an immunohistochemical study.

Granular cell tumors (GCT) are nerve sheath neoplasms composed of Schwann cells with granular cytoplasm. Perineurial cells are the cellular component of the perineurium and of perineuriomas, neoplasms supposedly derived from perineurial cells. However, perineurial cells have also been found in other Schwann cell-derived tumors. These cells have not been well studied in GCTs. We studied the presence of perineurial cells in a series of 24 GCTs with EMA, claudin-1, and Glut-1, which are immunohistochemical markers for perineurial cells. Three cases lacked nerve fascicles. Three cases showed no pe

Superficial keratectomy and topical mitomycin C as therapy for a corneal squamous cell carcinoma in a dog.

A 10-year-old female West Highland white terrier was presented with refractory hyperplastic keratitis of the left cornea of one month's duration. At this time, a vascularised and rough lesion 5 mm in diameter was observed on the left cornea. No other abnormality was recognised on the affected eye. The corneal neoplasm was surgically removed and histologically diagnosed as a squamous cell carcinoma. For two months after the surgery, 0.04 percent mitomycin C (MMC) eye drops were applied as adjuvant chemotherapy. Primary corneal squamous cell carcinoma with no history of keratoconjunctivitis sicc

Mucoepidermoid carcinoma arising in the glans penis.

Mixed carcinoma (squamous and glandular) of the penis is a rare neoplasm with an unknown origin and a poorly defined prognosis. The mucoepidermoid carcinoma described herein has not been previously reported to our knowledge. The present carcinoma arose from and extensively ulcerated the squamous epithelium of the glans penis, including that surrounding the urethral meatus. The neoplasm was composed of well-differentiated nonkeratinizing squamous cell carcinoma associated with large areas of carcinoma formed by cell nests that contained poorly differentiated squamous elements and large eosinoph

Basal cell adenoma with extensive squamous metaplasia and cellular atypia: a case report with cytohistopathological correlation and review of the literature.

Basal cell adenoma (BCA) is a rare benign basaloid neoplasm of the salivary gland. There are four histopathological types of BCA: solid, tubular, trabecular, and membranous. It is known that focal squamous metaplasia may be seen in some BCAs, but it is rare to see extensive squamous metaplasia, especially with cellular atypia. Here, a 25-year-old male with right parotid swelling is presented. Ultrasonography revealed a 2-cm well defined mass in his parotid gland. Fine-needle aspiration (FNA), performed prior to surgical excision, showed a highly cellular tumor composed of basaloid cells, formi

Parotid Gland Carcinoma Masquerading as an Aural Polyp.

INTRODUCTION: Parotid gland squamous cell carcinoma is an uncommon aggressive neoplasm with poor prognosis. Aural polyps are usually the presenting features of chronic suppurative otitis media, tuberculous otitis media, and adenoma or carcinoma. The malignant aural polyp is very rare. Parotid gland carcinoma masquerading as an aural polyp has rarely been described in the literature. CASE REPORT: We report a case study of parotid squamous cell carcinoma in a 29-year-old male masquerading as an ear polyp. CONCLUSION: Parotid gland primary squamous cell carcinoma is a rapidly advancing neoplasm
