Nasal obstruction is one of the most common complaints in the otolaryngology clinic. It can be a complex problem and may be multifactorial. We report on a 33-year-old man who underwent an odyssey of doctors for investigation of dysphagia. Eventually, a nasopharyngeal mass was found by several otorhinolaryngologists who repeatedly recommended biopsy or excision, because a polyp or fibroma was assumed on nasal endoscopy and MR imaging. Leukemia cutis (LC) represents metastatic spread of aggressive systemic leukemia to the skin and heralds a poor prognosis. We report a patient with a history of chronic lymphocytic leukemia presenting as a recalcitrant nasal cellulitis that proved to be involved by LC on skin biopsy. As demonstrated by this case, LC can mimic inflammatory dermatoses, resulting in failure of an accurate diagnosis and consequently inappropriate treatment and delay in optimal therapy. The authors of this study describe a case of nasal alar deformity with a secondary deficiency of cartilage, treated with a advancement flap. In order to choose the reconstruction technique, reference parameters such as the age of the patient, the presence of preexisting scars, and the size of the defect are assessed by focusing on the tissue structure and on the major aesthetic demands of the younger patients. Malignant Melanoma of the nose is a rare neoplasm, with primary mucosal melanoma being more aggressive than its cutaneous counterpart (Land,1982). Five newborns, 4 girls and 1 boy, presented with breathing and feeding difficulties caused by obstruction of the nose. The causes were choanal atresia, apertura pyriformis stenosis, teratoma, glioma and haemangioma. Following surgical treatment the children were symptom-free. Rapid diagnosis and treatment of these conditions are essential. An alternative airway should be created if a newborn suffers from breathing problems. Diagnostic work-up includes flexible laryngo-endoscopy followed by MRI- or CT-scan. Treatment is usually surgical.

Between May 1995 and March 1996 we were able to diagnose and remove glomus tumors of the left nasal cavity from three female patients. Ages of the patients were 9, 36 and 74 years. All patients suffered from a frequent epistaxis and all were extremely sensitive to the slightest nasal touch. One patient reported breathing difficulties due to nasal congestion.
