Mental Health of Nursing Students amid Coronavirus Disease 2019 Pandemic.

The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic is a global disaster, and recent studies have shown its association with increasing mental health problems such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, anxiety, and stress. Of note, the psychological influences of COVID-19 on nursing students remained unclear. The aim of this study was to evaluate the mental health of nursing student

Workplace violence predicts depression and anxiety in nurses: a multi-center longitudinal study in China.

BACKGROUND: Workplace violence (WPV) is a growing occupational threat to nurses' mental health, particularly under the strain of high-demand healthcare systems. Yet, longitudinal evidence on its psychological impact remains limited. METHODS: This prospective cohort study drew on data from the Chinese Nurses' Mental Health Study (NMHS), including 63,295 nurses across multiple centers. Cox regression models, propensity score matching, and subgroup analyses were conducted to assess the effects of WPV on depression and anxiety symptoms. The Job Demands-Resources (JDR) model served as the theoreti

Lack of physiotherapy resources restricts exercise prescription for patients with chronic kidney disease-the EUropean SUrvey on REnal EXercise (EUSUREX).

BACKGROUND: We hypothesized that the main barriers to integrating exercise in routine care of patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) were structural within European healthcare systems rather than due to resistance among healthcare professionals or patients. MATERIALS AND METHODS: This descriptive cross-sectional study used anonymized questionnaires to investigate nurses' and physicians' attitudes and practice towards exercise in patients with CKD, structural support within the healthcare system, and patients' experience of exercise prescriptions. Role of genomic science in males with breast cancer.

Studies have shown that individuals assigned male at birth with a first-degree relative diagnosed with breast cancer have approximately twice the risk of developing breast cancer. Advances in genomic science have revolutionized cancer care. However, many nurses and nursing students have received little formal education in genomic science. This foundational knowledge, including proper use of terminology, is critical to providing comprehensive and safe genomic care. Nurses also play a significant role in collecting family health histories and in identifying and educating males and their families

ICU Nurses' Proficiency in Recognising Patient-Ventilator Asynchrony: A Cross-Sectional Study.

BACKGROUND: Patient-ventilator asynchrony (PVA) is a prevalent complication in mechanically ventilated patients, leading to delays in weaning, prolonged ICU stays and increased mortality. Ventilator waveform analysis, a non-invasive and reliable diagnostic method, is essential for detecting PVA. However, its accuracy relies heavily on the interpretive skills of healthcare providers. AIM: This study aimed to assess the ability of ICU nurses to recognise PVA using ventilator waveforms and examined the influence of gender, clinical experience and mechanical ventilation-related training on their
