Machine learning (ML) applications within diagnostic histopathology have been extremely successful. While many successful models have been built using general-purpose models trained largely on everyday objects, there is a recent trend toward pathology-specific foundation models, trained using histopathology images. Problems of the cervical spine and shoulder frequently have very similar presentations and can be difficult to differentiate. However, with a careful history, physical exam, imaging studies, and judicious use of diagnostic injections, the true source of a patient's symptoms can be deciphered and treated. Cervical spondylosis not only causes pain in the neck and shoulder area, but can also cause radiating pain in the arm and forearm that can be confused with rotator cuff pathology, nerve compression in the shoulder area, or brachial neuritis.

Congenital or acquired disorders of the pediatric airway can affect the upper, lower, or entire airway. There are fundamental differences between the anatomy and physiology of the neonate, pediatric, and adult airways. Infants are not merely small adults in this respect and size, surface area, proportion, resistance, and compliance vary greatly between the age groups. A clear understanding of these significant differences and how they affect patients dependent on age is key to appropriate management.
