Combined radiotherapy and chemotherapy remain central to cancer treatment, with metallodrugs - most notably platinum agents - playing indispensable roles in clinical regimens. However, systemic toxicity and limited tumor selectivity continue to constrain their optimal integration with radiotherapy. Recent advances in radiation precision and metal chemistry are reshaping this landscape, giving rise to strategies in which radiotherapy and anticancer metallodrugs no longer act merely in combination, but intersect at the molecular level. Ionizing radiation generates highly reactive chemical specie…

OBJECTIVE: to study larynx chondroradionecrosis related to radiotherapy and chemotherapy treatment and provide a treatment flowchart.
METHODS: retrospective study with clinical data analysis of all larynx cancer patients admitted in a two tertiary hospital in a five years period.
RESULTS: from 131 patients treated for larynx cancer, 28 underwent chemoradiotherapy with curative intent and three of them presented chondroradionecrosis. They were treated with hiperbaric oxigen therapy and surgical debridment following our flowchart, preserving the larynx in all.
CONCLUSIONS: the incidence of ch…

Despite their specific functional consequences, radiotherapy-induced thyroid abnormalities remain under-estimated and underreported. These sequelae may include primary or central hypothyroidism, thyroiditis, Graves' disease, euthyroid Graves' ophthalmopathy, benign adenomas, multinodular goitre and radiation-induced thyroid carcinoma. Primary hypothyroidism, the most common radiation-induced thyroid dysfunction, affects 20-30% of patients administered following curative radiotherapy to the neck region, with approximately half of the events occurring within the first 5 years after therapy. The …
