Inheritance of idiopathic torsion dystonia (ITD) was studied in 41 Russian families including 41 probands with generalized, focal, and segmental dystonia and 140 recurred cases. Affected relatives appeared in two or more generations in 31 families analyzed. It was shown that in 76% of segregated cases, ITD was inherited as an autosomal dominant trait with a penetrance of 40% and varying expression. INTRODUCTION: Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental condition marked by heterogeneity in presentation. In recent decades, ASD prevalence has risen globally, yet data from non-Western and middle-income countries, including Russia, remain scarce. Thus, Russian official statistics report a prevalence of 0.41 per 1,000 (0.041%), far below global estimates of 32.2 per 1,000 (3.2%), indicating underdiagnosis. This study provides the first population-based estimate of ASD prevalence among Russian elementary school children and examines barriers to diagnosis and treatment.

The aim of the study was to study excessive daytime sleepiness (EDS) among the residents of Chuvashia. 2161 residents of the republic were interviewed (men - 1007, women - 1154) aged 18 to 70 (average - 36.5 ± 13.8 years old). The Epworth Sleepiness Scale and NoSAS test were used to assess the risk of obstructive sleep apnea syndrome (OSAS). Mathematical and statistical processing included descriptive statistics, one-way analysis of variance and calculation χ2-distribution. The paper presents 4 cases of Echinococcus alveolaris infection in rural areas of the middle belt of the European part of Russia--in the Bryansk, Kostroma, Smolensk, and Tambov Regions. In all cases, human infection occurs in the areas of residence. The fact that there may be infection in another area is ruled out. Possible reasons for the emergence of infestation cases in human beings in the areas that do not belong to the natural foci of alveococcosis are discussed.

Large-scale surveys of representative population groups (n = 2243) in 7 cities and 3 provinces of the central, Povolzh'e, and northwestern regions of the Russian Federation provided the basic epidemiological features of cryptosporidiosis in the European part of the country. Out of 86 Lyme's disease patients with a history of migrating erythema nervous system, cardiovascular and articular involvement was observed in 27, 6 and 43% of cases. Acrodermatitis was diagnosed in 2% of patients. Affection of locomotor system manifested with acute arthritis episodes or pains in major joints. 11 patients of 12 examined at arthritis onset showed elevated titer of anti-Borrelia IgG antibodies. Serologically, of 80 patients with arthritis or arthralgia without prior migrating erythema 6 demonstrated antibodies to 5 and more Borrelia polypeptides.

A survey was made of 375 Russian gynecologists. The questionnaire on family planning and contraceptives was distributed at the beginning of three local educational symposia. Almost all participants filled in the questionnaire on attitudes, knowledge and experience with family planning.
