Cholic acid in man-made bezoar can be determined by the suggested first order derivative spectrometric method. The peak amplitude within 310-290 nm is independent of the other components and only varies linearly with cholic acid concentration. The method is simple and accurate with good reproducibility.

This paper described a rapid ultraviolet spectrophotometric assay for simultaneous determination of tetracyclines (TC + ETC) and their anhydroderivatives (ATC + EATC), by using third- or fourth-derivative spectra recorded on samples in ethanol or dioxane. A novel approach for the production of [125I]amatoxin and anti-amanitin is described. The antigen and the starting material for Bolton Hunter iodination is prepared by periodic acid oxidation of the gamma-delta-dihydroxy-isoleucine side chain of alpha-amanitin followed by reductive amination. A long-path differential optical absorption spectroscopy (DOAS) system is introduced. A photodiode array is employed as the detector to replace the complicated SD detector which consists of a PMT and a slotted disk. The properties of the detector and the spectrometer unit such as offset, dark current, noise, linearity, resolution, and wavelength range were measured. This system was also tested to measure SO2 and NO2 in the atmosphere. The detection limits of this system for SO2, and NO2 over a 713 m light path were determined.
