INTRODUCTION: Laparoscopic adrenalectomy is the surgical treatment for various adrenal diseases. The procedure is a common surgical practice for urologists and general surgeons and requires fundamental laparoscopic skills, nowadays common in the surgical education of residents in these practices. The aim of this study is to assess whether laparoscopic adrenalectomy differs in outcome between certified and trained surgeons and surgical residents and whether the learning curve changes the endpoint of the surgery.

BACKGROUND: The primary care areas of priority (PCAP) activity was developed to engage medical students in learning about chronic disease management in a clinical context from their peers. This article provides an overview of atypical femoral fractures with a highlight on their radiographic findings. Potent antiresorptive agents such as bisphosphonates or denosumab have been associated with the development of such fractures. However, at this time, a causal association has not been conclusively established. Atypical femoral fractures are insufficiency fractures, which frequently present with bone pain. Early identification of characteristic radiographic features and withdrawal of antiresorptive therapy may prevent the development of completed atypical femoral fractures.

She had been treated with 400 mg/day of hydroxychloroquine and varying doses of prednisone over 15 years. Creatine kinase was 600 U/mL. There are few reports of the multiple cranial neuropathy variant of Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS). Patients usually present with facial diplegia, lower cranial nerve involvement and hypo or areflexia. It is crucial to identify promptly this unusual cranial variant but the clinical characteristics remain poorly defined. A 30-year-old woman presented with headache and diminution of vision of 2 weeks' duration. Visual acuity was finger counting at 1 meter in the right eye. Fundus examination showed a subretinal cyst (figure 1A). Neurologic examination was normal. Neuroimaging revealed neurocysticercosis (figure 2A). Ultrasound orbit showed subretinal cysticercosis (figure 2B). The patient was started on steroids and laser photocoagulation was recommended.
