The purpose of the present work was to determine the response in growth performance and spermatozoa characteristics of Windsnyer boars supplemented with progressive levels of α-tocopherol. Twenty Windsnyer boars aged 12 weeks with an average body weight of 19.5 ± 2.67 kg were used. Each boar was housed individually in a 1.54 × 0.8 m pen in environmentally controlled house with the temperature ranging from 22 to 25 °C. To evaluate the effects of passive smoking identified by urine cotinine on serum carotenoids and alpha-tocopherol, we categorized 124 residents in a rural city of Japan into 4 groups by their urine cotinine/creatinine (Cot/Cr) ratio (u.d. INTRODUCTION: The aim of this study was to test topical applications of dimethylsulfoxide and alpha-tocopherol for the prevention of ulcerations after antimitotic extravasation.
METHODS: An open prospective study was conducted in 10 patients in 4 different chemotherapy wards who had experienced infusion accidents leading to phlebitis (4 cases) or cellulitis (8 cases) including 2 at implant sites. Topical application of the dimethylsulfoxide alpha-tocopherol combination was initiated within the first hours and continued for 3 to 15 days. One patient was given dimethylsulfoxide alone.

A 5-year-old male neutered domestic shorthair cat suffered from recurrent solitary nodules in different subcutaneous body regions. Nodules were surgically removed and each time histopathological diagnosis was fat necrosis and fibrosing to pyogranulomatous panniculitis. Quercetin and tocopherol were given to 134 patients with Flexner's dysentery intramuscularly for 7 days; 154 patients received routine treatment. It was found that quercetin and tocopherol acetate enhanced normalization of clinical indices and restoration of the immune homeostasis.
