This study reports the first successful nanoscale encapsulation of triplet-triplet annihilation upconversion (TTA-UC) medium within a rigid silica shell using a self-assembly microemulsion process. These newly synthesized nanocapsules present a few critical advances that could be instrumental for a wide range of aqueous-based photonics applications, including photocatalysis, artificial photosynthesis, and bioimaging. PURPOSE: The purpose of this study is to assess the rate of spontaneous preterm birth (SPTB) versus indicated preterm birth (IPTB) in triplet pregnancies and determine factors associated with these outcomes.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: This is a review of triplet pregnancies delivering at our institution from 2003 to 2015. Patients delivering prior to 24 weeks gestational age (GA) were excluded. SPTB included cases of preterm labor or preterm premature rupture of membranes <37 weeks. IPTB was defined as deliveries <37 weeks for maternal or fetal complications.

Multiple gestations have a significantly increased incidence of preterm labor and preterm rupture of membranes. In this case, a 32-year-old woman had a car accident with preterm labor at 19 weeks' gestation. A vaginal delivery of the presenting triplet followed. After conservative management, the second and third triplets were delivered by cesarean section after a 70-day delay. A review of the literature was done.

Multiple pregnancies with hydatidiform mole are rare. We describe here a patient who delivered a male fetus and a female fetus together with molar tissue following treatment for infertility. comparing microsatellite polymorphisms in the DNA from the patient, her partner, the two normal placentas and the molar tissue, we were able to show that this was a triplet pregnancy with two normal conceptions and a complete hydatidiform mole of monospermic origin.

A case is reported of a transfusion syndrome in a triplet pregnancy with intrauterine death of two of the fetuses. This is an exceptional occurrence in a triplet pregnancy and raises the problem of the management of multiple pregnancies associated with the death of one or more of the fetuses. The problem of the method of delivery and the complications arising in triplet dizygotic pregnancies is discussed.

The rate of multiple pregnancies with more than 2 fetuses has significantly increased since the introduction of ovulation induction agents. From 1970 through 1978, there were 19 triplets and 6 quadruplets in the authors' department, incidences of 1:696 and 1:5370, respectively. Eighteen (72%) of the 25 multiple pregnancies followed treatment with ovulation induction agents and 7 were spontaneous. OBJECTIVE: To describe a new technique for embryo reduction (ER) in dichorionic triplet (DCT) pregnancies.
METHODS: In 22 DCT pregnancies, ER to dichorionic twins was carried out at 11.3-13.9 weeks' gestation by ultrasound-guided laser ablation of the pelvic vessels of one of the monochorionic twins.

Extreme premature triplets were scheduled for PDA ligation through median sternatomy. Anesthesia was maintained with fentanyl, ketamine, pancuronium and sevoflurane or isoflurane with N2O, oxygen and air. During operation, steady ventilation with low oxygen concentration was maintained. Monitoring size and contraction of hearts in the face, 5% albumine solution could be administered safely for hypotension after PDA ligation. PDA ligation through median sternatomy might be a less invasive surgical procedure.

OBJECTIVE: Our purpose was to compare outcomes of women with triplet gestations conceived via assisted reproductive technology who chose expectant management or multifetal pregnancy reduction.
STUDY DESIGN: We performed a retrospective review of all women who initiated assisted reproductive technology cycles from August 1995 through July 1997 with ultrasonographic documentation of triplets exhibiting fetal heart tones at 9 weeks of gestation (N = 127). Patients were then uniformly referred to a maternal-fetal medicine specialist and to 3 centers offering multifetal pregnancy reduction.
