During the last 8 years 54 children with a persistent cloaca have been treated by one of us (A. P.). Complete avulsion of the female urethra secondary to blunt trauma is uncommon. Granular cell tumors (GCTs) are a rare type of mesenchymal tumors that are histologically derived by Schwann cells and rise within soft tissues such as skin and mucosal surfaces. Aggressive angiomyxoma is a rare locally invasive mesenchymal neoplasm of unknown pathogenesis arising predominantly in pelvic and perineal tissues of adult women. Surgical excision is the classical management but is associated with the risk of recurrence, especially with incomplete excision. There is a proposed role for adjuvant hormonal therapy. We report a very rare case of urethral aggressive angiomyxoma, managed by surgical excision, in a 40-year-old woman who presented with severe hematuria with clot retention.

Mixed adenoneuroendocrine carcinoma (MANEC) is a rare tumour found predominantly in the gastrointestinal tract. Comprising adenocarcinomatous and neuroendocrine components, MANEC have been reported in the bladder. We report the first case to our knowledge of a MANEC arising in the urethra. INTRODUCTION: Angioleiomyomas are benign smooth muscle tumors that arise from blood vessel walls and commonly involve the deep dermal and subcutaneous tissue. Urethral angioleiomyomas are only rarely seen with only less than 5 cases reported in literature.

Primary melanoma of the glans or male urethra is a rare malignant tumor with high mortality. We searched PubMed and found 129 articles reporting on 220 patients. All articles were case reports or case series. Median patient age was 65 years. Median survival was 28 months, with 5-year survival in approximately 10%. All patients who survived over 5 years had a localized disease (stage I/A) with invasion depth <3-3.5 mm. Wide local excision with sentinel lymph node biopsy is the treatment of choice for patients with localized disease. For advanced disease, the prognosis is poor.

Imaging of the anterior male urethra has traditionally been performed by fluoroscopic contrast urethrography. While providing easily interpretable images, this technique has a number of disadvantages associated with it. An alternative approach is to use ultrasound to assess the lumen of the urethra and the periurethral tissues. Here we describe the development of urethral ultrasound and the ascending and descending urethral ultrasound techniques employed in our institution with reference to commonly and uncommonly encountered pathologies. We also identify common pitfalls and how to avoid them.

Urethral polyps are a rare pathology that is usually diagnosed in childhood hematuria and obstructive urinary symptoms are the most common findings and transurethral resection is the best choice of the treatment. We report three cases, a 6-years-old boy and 9-years-old boy diagnosed and treated of posterior urethral polyp after showing hematuria and obstructive urinary symptoms, and a 2-years-old girl that showed to prolapse of urethral polyp.
