Comprehensive care of the burned upper extremity requires accurate and complete evaluation of function, including two-point discrimination, active and passive range of motion, and grip strength. The systematic analyses of secondary muscle potentials of H-reflex and F-wave type were done in multicentric study. The examinations were carried out in healthy volunteers with 9 muscles analysed on the legs and 9 on the lower arms and hands. Paget-Schroetter syndrome, more commonly called "effort thrombosis," has been well documented in the literature but is considered an uncommon cause of morbidity in the athletic population. We describe a case of axillary-subclavian vein thrombosis ("effort thrombosis") that presented as painless arm swelling in a high school football player. This case reviews the presentation, diagnosis, and management of this difficult problem in a young athlete.

1107 cases of lymphedema of the ipsilateral arm (27%) were found in 4011 female breast cancer patients suffered from 4101 breast cancer, seen in the Bad Trissl hospital between 1972 and 1990. Open fractures of both left ulna and radius, in which a segment of the radius was found to be missing, occurred in a 27-year-old man. The diseases most frequently resulting in a chronic shoulder-hand syndrome are definitely of a post-traumatic nature and are later - after a varying period - often combined with degenerative changes. The tendency to injury is enhanced by the particularly great mobility of the shoulder joint. Inflammatory changes - e.g. of bacterial, rheumatic origin - are much rarer. The authors present two patients with rare neoplastic lesions in the region of the shoulder-blade and show how the disease was identified via various differential diagnostic methods.
