A 68-year-old man was admitted to our hospital for investigation of dysuria and palpable lower abdominal mass. Computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging demonstrated a huge bladder diverticulum tumor which infiltrated the mesentery and abdominal wall with multiple lymph node swelling in the pelvis. Congenital diverticulum of heart is a rare entity, which may arise from the atria, atrial appendages, coronary sinus or the ventricles. A 3-year-old child presented with history of early fatigability for 6 months and recent upper respiratory tract infection. Chest X-ray and echocardiogram revealed marked right atrial enlargement. At surgery, a right atrial diverticulum was excised under cardiopulmonary bypass. Pathology revealed thickened endocardium with edema and myocardial fiber hypertrophy. Our experience with this rare congenital disease is presented along with a review of the literature.

Meckel's diverticulum and duplication of the alimentary tract are very important as the congenital anomalies of ileum. As these two diseases have the common clinical characteristics such as sex, age, symptoms and complications, it is often difficult to diagnose before surgery. This report describes and compared the clinical aspects of Meckel's diverticulum and duplication of the alimentary tract, which were experienced at Nagoya University Hospital and Kariya Toyota General Hospital.

Congenital anterior urethral diverticulum is an uncommon condition that tends to present in older children with signs of chronic urinary problems. A neonate presented following recurrent collapse, and cystography revealed a giant urethral diverticulum. The diverticulum was incised at cystoscopy, leading to a full recovery.

A 49-year-old woman presented with complaints of dysuria and gross hematuria. Vaginal examination revealed an elastic-soft mass beneath the anterior vaginal wall. Urine cytology was positive. Gastric diverticulum is a rare entity; the patient usually presents with vague abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, and weight loss. Diverticulectomy is required for patients with intractable symptoms or complications. We report the laparoscopic excision of a gastric diverticulum in a 15-year-old girl who had been symptomatic for 5 years. A five-port technique and a linear cutting and stapling device were used.

We report three boys, ages 8 to 14 years, who experienced dysphagia or chest pain while eating. In each patient, contrast esophagrams or esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD) demonstrated mid-esophageal traction diverticula, and serologic findings were compatible with acute or recent histoplasmosis. Diverticula appear to result from esophageal traction induced by inflammatory changes in adjacent infected lymph nodes. Antifungal and anti-inflammatory therapies were individualized in each case; all patients recovered fully.

Examinations of 125 patients with sialolithiasis showed abnormality of the submandibular duct (diverticulum with a sialolith in it) in 3 (2.4%) patients.
