INTRODUCTION: Treatment conditions and progression of chronic kidney disease (CKD) are factors for work incapacity, related with physical li … D, and PD (76 ± 6, 68 ± 13, 68 ± 12, and 67 ± 7, respectively, p < 0.05). In multivariate analysis, employment predicted QOL in all kidney replacement therapies (KRTs): HD (B = 10.1, 95% CI: 5.5-14.6), PD (B = 4.5, 95% CI: 0.08-8.9) and KT (B = 13.3, 95% CI: 6.1-20.5). Low income, being without employment, and living alone: how they are associated with cognitive functioning-Results from the German national cohort (NAKO).

Aim was to investigate to what extent cognitive functioning differs by three socioeconomic conditions: low income, being without employment, and living alone. A total of N = 158,144 participants of the population-based German National Cohort (NAKO) provided data on socioeconomic conditions and completed cognitive tests. Multivariable confounder-adjusted regression analyses indicated that cognitive functioning was lower in those with low income (b = -0.21) compared to not having low income, living alone (b = -0.04) compared to not living alone, and being without employment (b = -0.09) compared …

Post-Secondary Education Outcomes for Individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities: Self-Determination, Independent Living, Employment, and the Impact of COVID-19.

Post-secondary education (PSE) plays an important role in preparing individuals with an intellectual and developmental disability (IDD) to gain employment and independent living. Despite the recent increase in PSE programs, however, there is a lack of research examining outcomes of individuals with IDD who have attended a PSE program. This study examined three years of data from students who participated in one PSE program that focuses on the acquisition of skills regarding self-determination, employment, and independent living. We analyzed the outcome data of program graduates regarding their…

[Employment of St. Jude "silzone" valve in the surgical treatment of early prosthetic valve endocarditis: a preliminary case report and review of the literature].

Prosthetic valve endocarditis remains as one of the most life-threatening complication of valve replacement surgery. Homografts are the valve of choice with a lower early risk of endocarditis than other valve substitutes, however they are not always available. Recently a new prosthesis has been introduced with a silver-coated sewing cuff (St. Jude Medical with Silzone coating). Silver is an antimicrobial agent that has been proven to reduce bacterial colonization. We present the case of a 48-year-old man with an early prosthetic valve endocarditis which affected an aortic stentless prosthesis.

Is employment anxiety among vocal music students associated with AI replacement concerns? The roles of AI anxiety and vocal-performance replacement perception.

Artificial intelligence (AI) is reshaping students' expectations about learning, employability, and professional identity, but AI-related psychological responses may differ across disciplines. This cross-sectional study examined how broad AI anxiety and a vocal-performance-specific replacement appraisal were associated with employment anxiety among 392 vocal music students and early-career graduates in China. AI anxiety was assessed with a 14-item subset derived from the Chinese Artificial Intelligence Anxiety Scale; vocal-performance replacement perception was assessed with a four-item contex…
