BACKGROUND: Percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG) is a preferred method of long-term enteral nutritional support. Despite its ease of placement, it has a 4% major complication rate, requiring surgical intervention or hospitalization. Secondary pyloric stenosis quickly leads to homeostatic and nutritional disorders that determines the importance of early diagnosis and surgical treatment. In two clinical cases, we have shown that staged endoscopic balloon dilatation of the pylorus is devoid of the most of the known problems and shortcomings of conventional surgery and makes it possible to restore effectively gastrointestinal passage and to improve child's quality of life. This procedure has a high diagnostic and curative value and is followed by positive dynamics of condition of the child with pyloric stenosis.

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the use of endoscopy in conjunction with a gastropexy technique in dogs as a potential means to aid prevention of gastric dilatation-volvulus.

OBJECTIVE: [corrected] To investigate the differences and similarities between non-erosive reflux disease (NERD) and reflux disease (RE).
METHODS: This study covered 30 patients who were grouped by endoscopy into the cases of NERD (n=17) or RE (n=13). The two groups' symptom, mentality, and damage to life quality were compared. Biopsy was performed at 3 cm above LES in oesophagus. The patients were placed under ambulatory 24-h oesophageal pH and Bilitec2000 monitoring. And their responses to the same anti-reflux treatment were evaluated.

BACKGROUND/PURPOSE: Percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG), initially developed for children with inability to swallow, had its first presentation at the annual meeting of the American Pediatric Surgical Association in Florida in 1980. Based on the novel concept of the sutureless approximation of a hollow viscus to the abdominal wall, this minimally invasive procedure has become the standard for direct gastric access worldwide. This report is a brief retrospective about the evolution of PEG and the expanded applications of the surgical concept on which it is based.

This is a case report on tuberculosis of the stomach in a 70-year-old woman who, submitted to an endoscopic examination for uncharacteristic upper abdominal complaints, revealed multiple ulcers in the aboral part of the stomach, together with a thickening of the gastric wall. Histologically, caseating epithelioid cell granulomas were found, and only a single acid-fast tubercle (TB rod).
