Obstetrical attitudes and practices before and after the Canadian Consensus Conference Statement on Cesarean Birth.

This paper describes one aspect of a research program aimed at reducing the incidence of cesarean section in Ontario for women with a previous cesarean section or a breech presentation. Using data from multiple sources--surveys of obstetricians, and hospital administrators, and hospital record statistics, the authors attempt to assess the response of obstetricians to pressure to change their practice. This pressure comes principally from the Canadian Consensus Conference Statement on Cesarean Birth, released in June 1986 and subsequently endorsed by a number of professional organizations. The

OBJECTIVES: To assess knowledge, attitude and practices (KAPs) towards meat safety among meat handlers in m

Hence, this study aimed to determine the proportion of people with knowledge of asymptomatic malaria in endemic countries and describe their perspective towards malaria control interventions. The findings from this study could contribute to developing

Knowledge, attitudes, and representations of caregivers of individuals with major neurocognitive disorders regarding palliative and end-of-life care: a narrative literature review.

BACKGROUND: Caregivers of individuals with major neurocognitive disorders often bear the responsibility of participating in decisions related to the provision of palliative care for their loved ones due to the loss of capacity to consent as the disease progresses. This role is highly significant, as caregivers can influence both the quality of life and life expectancy of those they care for. Since they make decisions based on their knowledge, skills, preferences, and values, It is essential to develop a more comprehensive understanding of theses concepts regarding palliative and end-of-life ca

Letter To the Editor Regarding the Article "Assessing Public Awareness and Understanding of Dysphagia: A Representative Survey of US Adults".

According to the results of the article "Assessing Public Awareness and Understanding of Dysphagia: A Representative Survey of US Adults", there is a specific gap in public knowledge regarding dysphagia, its impacts, and the professionals responsible for its treatment. This gap is notable in the healthcare field and corroborates the scarcity of research on this topic. We respectfully advocate for this in this letter, explaining the need for this perspective, both academically and in the creation of public policies.

From Awareness to Understanding: A Knowledge-Focused Framework for Parkinson's Disease Communication.

The 2024 passage of the National Plan to End Parkinson's Act promises federal coordination and resources, creating a pivotal moment to sharpen public communication. Building on this opportunity means addressing unique challenges associated with Parkinson's disease, including the subtle and complex nature of symptoms, a public image dominated by a "tremor-only, older white male" stereotype, and uneven access to specialty care. These factors complicate early detection, stigma reduction, and equitable service use. Drawing on stigma research and communication science, this commentary reviews recen
