Myeloablative chemo (+/- radio) therapy and rescue with ABMT has been used as final consolidation therapy in 18 patients with AML in first remission. Minor and reversible gastrointestinal side effects are common when patients receive interleukin-2 (IL-2) with or without lymphokine-activated killer (LAK) cells.
