Paragonimiasis is a common parasitic zoonosis in China. Its clinical manifestations may be classified into two clinical entities, eg, paragonimiasis westermani type and paragonimiasis szechuanensis type. The latter mainly manifests as trematode larva migrans. The immunodiagnostic methods frequently used in the diagnosis of paragonimiasis are intradermal test, CFT and ELISA. OBJECTIVES: This article describes the development and implementation of an oncology outpatient nurse-driven PAT program.
METHODS: A nurse-driven program, initiated with allergy screening at the first encounter, was designed to identify patients with oncologic diagnoses eligible for PAT. Reactogenicity and specific activity of three series of concentrated and purified cell culture rabies vaccine (CPCRV) were studied in an experiment of therapeutical immunization of 300 human subjects bitten by domestic animals, category "C". CPCRV was well tolerated; when administered intramuscularly, it did not provoke local reactions, while general reactions, such as temporary headaches and indisposition, were observed in 4% of cases. A case of quinidine sulfate-induced photodermatitis is reported. The photosensitive reaction to quinidine sulfate was reproducible in the photopatch test and after oral intake plus ultraviolet A (UVA) irradiation. Eczematous dermatitis was provoked after intradermal injection of in vitro UVA-irradiated quinidine sulfate only in the presence of patient's serum. In this study the influence of toxic shock syndrome toxin produced by Staphylococcus aureus on the organism of piglets of Minnesota race is presented. Animals were tested in two groups: conventional and gnotobiotic and they were given the toxin intradermally in two doses 10 and 100 micrograms/kg of body weight.
