Development of fat embolism is frequent following bone trauma involving the long bones of the legs. Determination of embolic free lipids in the plasma is based on microfiltration of lipid droplets (diameter greater than 5 micron) and nephelometric measurements after dissolution and specific precipitation. Two of our 5 patients with neuronal ceroid lipofuscinosis excreted a large amount of autofluorescent lipids in their urine. These autofluorescent lipids consisted of more than 5 bands in the thin-layer-chromatography. Excitation and emission spectra of these lipids showed that they had heterogeneous components. In the present study the lipid and glycogen content of human testis in patients with unilateral varicocele is presented. Eight cases were taken for the present study. Testicular biopsy specimens taken from these patients were analyzed and the normal testis acted as control groups. There was marked increase in total lipids, ester cholesterol and glycerides in the testis of varicocele patients. The arterial blood pressure (B.P.), the cardiovascular complications and the type of hyperlipoproteinemia were studied in 98 families of hypertensive children (group A) and in 100 families of normotensive children (group B). In group A, hypertension was found in 27% of the parents and 47.4% of grandparents, whereas in group B in 7.5% and 22.5% respectively. In siblings of hypertensive children hypertension was found in 13.5% as apposed to 5.4% of those of normotensive children. Cardiovascular complications were recorded in 27.5% in the parents and grandparents of group A and in 12% in group B.

The experiments on physically trained and untrained dogs have shown that violent physical exertion (racing up to complete exhaustion) in the presence of emotional stress enhances stress-induced hyperlipemia. The untrained animals developed especially abrupt changes in lipid metabolism. The effect of pyridoxine deficiency on fat metabolism was studied using mutant strains of Aspergillus nidulans requiring pyridoxine for growth. Under pyridoxine deficiency the mutants exhibited increased levels of total lipid, sterols, phospholipids, and triacylglycerols. Total fatty acids were found to decrease with pyridoxine deficiency.
